Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "In the season ten episode "D'oh-in' in the Wind", Homer is trying to uncover the secret behind his middle name. What is this middle name?" Based on the guidelines for making a quiz on "The Simpsons", is there anything wrong with this question?

Answer: Yes

As the guidelines for "The Simpsons" states, you may not ask questions relating to Homer's middle name, which is "Jay".
2. I want to create a quiz on the classic "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" episode, part one. There are two other quizzes online about this very same episode. Will my quiz be accepted?

Answer: Yes, it seems fine and will be accepted if it is free of spelling and grammar errors.

The word "shot" is allowed to be in the title. There is no problem with making a quiz on a single episode even if the episode is connected to others. Also, more than two quizzes can be made on a particular episode, but if too many are made, there can be a limit set. Just remember to play all the other quizzes on that episode so you know what questions not to ask! Your quiz will be more fun if your questions are original, and may be rejected if there are questions that are duplicates!
3. Let's assume you have a quiz online about "The Simpsons", and you get a correction notice from a player about a simple spelling error. You review your quiz and see that you actually did make an error. What do you do?

Answer: Fix the error and report the correction notice as "corrected".

One single typo is no reason to give up! They happen to all of us! Fixing the error immediately then setting the status of the notice as "corrected" is always the best method, and if you would like, you can send a note to that player telling them that you have fixed the error, and you are thankful that they pointed it out.

A recommendation is to always place your questions, answers, and interesting information through a word processor that has a spell checker before you submit it for approval. This way, you are less likely to have your quiz sent back!
4. I want to make a quiz on "The Simpsons". The quiz does not ask questions about a specific episode, but instead, it remains broad and general. How many questions do I have to make this quiz, minimum?

Answer: 10

As of the time this quiz was made, the television category does not accept 5-question quizzes unless they are concerning a single episode, and even those have to be specially approved by the editor. A quiz of 5-question length usually needs a lot of interesting information that actually pertains to the question in a constructive way. Since you cannot make a 5-question quiz about "The Simpsons" in general, 10 is the next allowable number because quizzes go up in increments of 5! As of the end of 2003, "The Simpsons" category does not allow 5-question quizzes at all, no matter what.
5. You have a fill-in-the-blank question that says "What company made the home pregnancy test that Marge took when she thought she was pregnant with a fourth child?" and the correct answer is "Barnacle Bill's Home Pregnancy Test". What is wrong with this answer?

Answer: It contains punctuation, therefore is not allowed.

Punctuation in fill-in-the-blank questions results in your quiz being sent back to you because some players choose to leave it out, which doesn't necessarily mean they were incorrect. Please remember that answers on FunTrivia are NOT case sensitive, as "Bill" is the same as putting "BILL", which is the same as "bill". Also, three is not the limit of words allowed, but if you go too high, an editor will usually recommend you make the question multiple choice.
6. I made a fill-in-the-blank question in my quiz that asks "How many years older is Bart than Lisa?" The answer I put is "2", and I also accept the answer "two". Is this an acceptable question?

Answer: Yes

There seems to be nothing wrong with this question because it asks something that is very straightforward, and it has both the number and written form as acceptable answers. Also, the information itself is accurate. Remember to always include all forms of an answer that you believe players would use!
7. I want to make a quiz involving the many different voices and guests that have appeared on "The Simpsons". Which of these websites is the best resource for information on actors and actresses, including correct spelling of their names and information about them?

Answer: www.imdb.com

IMDB (The Internet Movie Database) is personally recommended by myself, and is also recommended by FunTrivia in their TV guidelines. You can find lots of information on virtually anyone who has ever appeared in a movie or practically anything that has been seen on a TV set.

While I'm sure Microsoft, McDonald's, and Nintendo have great websites, they would not be ideal for the information you'd be looking for.
8. I want to ask this question: What was last night's episode of "The Simpsons" about? Why would this not be an acceptable question?

Answer: The question is time-based.

Possibly the biggest error one could make is making a question or quiz that is based on that current point in time. This question in particular could have a different answer to every player, as there are numerous episodes of the show that air every night!
9. Let's say you want to make a quiz on the very first episode of "The Simpsons". Where do you place it?

Answer: In the "Season 1" subcategory

All quizzes belong in the most SPECIFIC subcategory available! All episode quizzes are broken down into folders for each season, which makes the "Season 1" folder the most specific. If your quiz is a general quiz on the show, then it is best to put it in the main "Simpsons" folder and have an editor move it once it has an accurate difficulty rating.
10. Finally, how did you like my quiz?

Answer: This is an unacceptable question, which makes this the correct answer.

This one was a freebie. Remember that your questions must be facts, and can never be opinion! It is highly recommended that you state the episode and context of whatever scene you are talking about, and if you are making a quotes quiz, it is also important to include the speaker of the quote, the person being spoken to, and general information about the episode that had that quote, if it is limited to one particular episode. Well, that's it! Thanks for playing! Hope you enjoyed it!
