Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Ernest Penfold, Colonel K and Baron Silas Greenback.

Answer: Danger Mouse

Kid's show "Danger Mouse" originally ran from 1981 to 1992 and spawned a cult following among adults, with its star cast of David Jason who voiced the greatest mouse secret agent of them all, the titular Danger Mouse and Terry Scott who provided the voice of his bumbling companion, the bespectacled hamster Penfold.
Danger Mouse's arch enemy, the toad, Baron Silas Greenback was voiced by Edward Kelsey, who is probably best known for playing Joe Grundy for over 30 years on long running radio drama "The Archers" (1985-2019), and also voiced the boss of Danger Mouse, Colonel K in the show.
"Danger Mouse" wasgiven a reboot in 2015, featuring Alexander Armstrong as Danger Mouse, Kevin Eldon as Penfold, Ed Gaughan as Baron Greenback and the wonderful Stephen Fry as Colonel K.
2. Andy Crawford, Bob Cherry and Johnny Wills.

Answer: Dixon of Dock Green

Police drama, "Dixon of Dock Green" (1955-1976) was a huge success and its portrayal of a gentle side of life in which common sense was the greatest attribute an English "bobby" could have struck a chord with viewers.
Each show started with PC George Dixon addressing the camera directly, saying "Evening all" and giving a brief outline of the case that was to follow, and the end of each show saw Dixon warning viewers of the evils of crime, before finishing with, "Goodnight, all".
Jack Warner played PC Dixon, Peter Byrne played PC, later DSI Andy Crawford while Robert Cawdron played DI Bob Cherry and Johnny Wills was played by Nicholas Donnelly.
3. Arthur Wilson, Jack Jones and James Frazer.

Answer: Dad's Army

Led by Captain Mainwaring, the crew of "Dad's Army" was on our screens between 1968 and 1977, telling comedic tales of life in the Home Guard during WWII.
Arthur Wilson was Mainwaring's Sergeant, played by John Le Mesurier and Private James Frazer, with his cries of "We're doomed. Doomed!" was played by John Laurie.
Clive Dunn, who excelled at playing the part of a man much older than he actually was, played Lance Corporal Jack Jones, who, when talking about any potential engagement with Nazi forces would advise, "They don't like it up 'em."
4. Louisa Glasson, Bert Large and Martin Ellingham.

Answer: Doc Martin

Prior to becoming the likeable, but so annoying Dr. Martin Ellingham in this show, Martin Clunes was probably best known for playing Gary Strang in the brilliant comedy, "Men Behaving Badly" (1992-1998). As Doc Martin, he takes over a small general practice in the fictitious Cornish town of Portwenn, and very much the outsider, struggles to understand the ways of the local folk, while simultaneously trying to provide the best medical care he can for them. The show which began broadcasting in 2004, also stars Caroline Catz as school teacher and Ellingham's love interest, Louisa Glasson and Ian McNeice as Bert Large, a local businessman, usually with several schemes on the go.
5. Gus Hedges, George Dent and Henry Davenport.

Answer: Drop the Dead Donkey

"Drop the Dead Donkey" was an award winning comedy from Channel 4 that was set in a TV news room, and in order to give the show a sense of realism was often filmed as close to transmission date as possible.
Robert Duncan played Gus Hedges, the Chief Executive of the news company, who is determined to steer the company away from serious news towards sensationalist tabloid journalism, while editor, George Dent, played by Jeff Rawle is frequently against the changes but usually too afraid of Hedges to voice his opinions.
David Swift played the part of Henry Davenport, the news anchor who has had a long and distinguished career, but now finds himself fighting for a job while still trying to live life on a par with his previous excesses.
The show ran from 1990 to 1998 and featured guest appearances from politicians, Tony Banks, Ken Livingstone and Neil Kinnock as well as newsreaders, Jon Snow and Michael Buerk.
6. Brigadier Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart, Sarah Jane Smith and Rose Tyler.

Answer: Doctor Who

The adventures of this Time Lord, commonly known as "The Doctor", began in 1963 and he has, over the decades battled against adversaries such as Daleks, Cybermen, Silurians and The Master.
Very rarely does he manage to see off these foes single-handedly though, often relying on the assistance of his friends and companions, who have over the years included Brigadier Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart, played by Nicholas Courtney who has helped six incarnations of The Doctor see off the Daleks, the Silurians and the Zygons among others and Sarah Jane Smith, played by Elizabeth Sladen who helped four different Doctor's beat both the Daleks and the Cybermen.
Rose Tyler, played by former pop star Billie Piper has helped two Doctors, and has battled against the Autons and once again, those never say die Daleks.
7. Karl Fletcher, Curtis Alexander and Frank Stone.

Answer: Dream Team

"Dream Team" began in 1997, covering the highs and lows, and all the in betweens of fictional football club Harchester United. Unfortunately, the show ran out of believable story lines somewhere around season four, but plodded on for another six seasons before finally being dropped in 2007.
The plots went from the totally believable relegation battles, FA Cup triumphs and dressing room squabbles to the almost believable match fixing scams before descending into unbelievable scenarios such as a star player being shot by a sniper, and another player holding the rest of the team hostage before being killed by a SWAT team.
Harchester's star striker, Karl Fletcher was played by Terry Kiely and he played for the club between 1991 and 2005, before being murdered by the team's manager while Curtis Alexander, played by Charles Venn was another striker, who played for Harchester between 2002 and 2005, before being killed when the same manager deliberately drove his car into the team bus.
Defender Frank Stone, played by Colin Parry was with the club between 2004 and 2005, and was the fictional Premier League's first gay footballer, before, yep you guessed it, he died in the bus crash caused by manager Don Barker.
8. Kev Twine, Hannah and Dougie.

Answer: Derek

"Derek", written by and starring Ricky Gervais, ran from 2012 to 2014 and told the tale of Derek Noakes, a naive, socially awkward man who lived and volunteered in an old people's home.
The show also starred Karl Pilkington as handyman Dougie and Kerry Godliman as the manager of the home, Hannah, both of whom were Derek's friends and looked out for him.
The brilliant David Earl played Kev Twine, a beer drinking, sex crazed miscreant who spends much of his days at the home, drinking "Special Brew" and attempting to give Derek new experiences, such as licking a toad.
9. Violet Crawley, Charlie Carson and Thomas Barrow.

Answer: Downton Abbey

"Downton Abbey" ran for six seasons between 2010 and 2015, and was a huge hit with UK audiences, with an average of 11 million viewers tuning in for each episode.
The show centred on the Crawley's, a fictional aristocratic family who resided in Downton Abbey in the early 1900s and featured events such as the sinking of the Titanic, the effects of WWI, Ramsay MacDonald forming the first ever Labour government and the Irish War of Independence.
Violet Crawley was played by the wonderful Maggie Smith, Charlie Carson by Jim Carter and Thomas Barrow by Rob James-Collier.
10. Jason King, Sir Curtis Seretse and Annabelle Hurst.

Answer: Department S

"Department S" ran for just one season between 1969 and 1970, but is still well remembered as the show that brought us fictional author and investigator, Jason King, played by Peter Wyngarde.
In the show, Department S was a special section of Interpol, which investigated cases which other police forces were unable to solve, and about which King usually then wrote about in his novels.
King was assisted in his investigations by Annabelle Hurst, a computer wizard played by Rosemary Nicols and overseeing the department was Sir Curtis Seretse, played by Dennis Alaba Peters.
