Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. His mother wished he'd married a GRANDER MAD HAG instead of the hippie.

Answer: Dharma and Greg

They say opposites attract and Dharma and Greg were just that. Greg, from a rich, conservative and snobbish family married Dharma on impulse on the day they met. Dharma was raised in a family more attuned to a hippie lifestyle. Greg's image conscious mother was initially aghast at the match but gradually came around to the idea that Greg was happy and so should she be. The fathers-in-law bonded over the various issues they had in dealing with their wives.

'Dharma and Greg' ran from 1997 to 2002, with Jenna Elfman and Thomas Gibson in the lead roles.
2. To win the car, THEIR RICHEST PIG has to spin the wheel.

Answer: The Price is Right

Since 1956, contestants have been trying to win prizes ranging from the mundane to the spectacular on 'The Price is Right'. The show has been hosted by Bill Cullen (1956-1971), Bob Barker (1972-2006) and Drew Carey (2007- ). The format has spread around the globe with countries such as the UK, Mexico and Australia developing their own versions.
3. Does Clark's VILLA SMELL in Kansas?

Answer: Smallville

You think you have problems? Imagine being an alien teenager in small rural town with adoptive human parents, super-human strength and vision, and no one to tell. In fact, you're desperately hoping no one finds out about you. Being a teenager is hard enough as it is without all those complications!

Clark Kent, played by Tom Welling, was the teenager in question. Viewers of 'Smallville' watched Clark grow from a teenager to a reporter for the Daily Planet. The usual characters such as Lois Lane, Lex Luthor and Jimmy Olson were there, but there were others such as Chloe Sullivan (a high school student with Clark), and Kara, Clark's cousin from Krypton.
'Smallville' ran for ten years from 2001 to 2011.
4. The designer wanted to WRAP CORNY JUTE on his competition model.

Answer: Project Runway

Take a group of keen as mustard fashion designers with talent but little commercial success, put them in a design studio with some unusual criteria and materials, and you have yourself a successful TV reality show. 'Project Runway' interviews many amateur designers and puts the chosen ones through at least one challenge a week. The challenge may be as common as making a party dress or as avant garde as making an outfit from material found in a car (such as floor mats and seat covers).

There is usually an elimination every episode after the judging panel has decided who didn't make the grade and the contest moves on to the following episode. The three to four finalists are then given several weeks and a several thousand dollars to create their own fashion show which is held under the auspices of New York Fashion Week. The final winner receives cash, prizes and possibly most important of all, publicity! Model Heidi Klum was the first hostess of the show in the US which started in 2004.
5. Gavin MacLeod took an OATH TO BEVEL the edges of the ship.

Answer: The Love Boat

For nine years and 249 episodes starting in 1977, the crew of 'The Love Boat' set sail tending to the passengers and sorting out problems. Passengers would embark with problems in their lives, and magically, their problems would be resolved by the end of the cruise. It was that kind of ship! Led by Captain Stubbing (Gavin MacLeod), the crew of Doc, Julie, Gopher, Isaac and others would ensure that everyone had a good time and disembarked happily on to their new and improved lives.
6. You know, BEETLES THRILL US when we chase them in the police car.

Answer: Hill Street Blues

'Hill Street Blues' was about the working life of officers in an urban police station. The specific city 'Hill Street Blues' was set in was never revealed but the feel of the show indicated it was set in a large urban centre east of the Mississippi (despite being filmed in Los Angeles).

The show would sometimes have a story conclude within one episode while other stories carried over from week to week. Daniel J. Travanti played Captain Frank Furillo who usually started the show with a roll call of his officers and a briefing of what might be expected in their day.

There were 146 episodes of 'Hill Street Blues' made over seven years between 1981 and 1988.
7. Watch the businessman preach PEACE THEN TRIP over his hair in his tower and fire someone.

Answer: The Apprentice

Donald Trump is the star of 'The Apprentice', a reality show in which contestants vie for a chance to work for Mr Trump and advance their business careers. The show has been described as the 'Ultimate Job Interview' and sees candidates for their dream job work together in teams to complete various tasks to have their business skills assessed.

A contestant is eliminated in each episode and the final episode in each series sees the final two contestants compete while being assisted by the previously eliminated contestants.

The losing contestant each week is eliminated by Donald Trump saying the words 'You're fired'.
8. Did Alice serve DEATH BY BRUNCH to the entire family?

Answer: The Brady Bunch

Take a widowed mother of three girls and marry her to a widower with three boys. That was the basis of 'The Brady Bunch' which ran originally from 1969 to 1974. Interweaving two families has its challenges as demonstrated by the Bradys, but it all worked out in the end with Alice, the housekeeper, not killing any of them with a deadly brunch.
9. Did you hear the TUBA DUO? MAYO on Mabel's sandwich is crazy!

Answer: Mad About You

Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt played Paul and Jamie Buchman for seven seasons on 'Mad About You'. The show was about a young, married couple dealing with everything from the mundane (but funny) to the serious (but still with a funny side). Their daughter, Mabel, was born in the final episode of the fifth season. Murray, always an audience favourite, was their dog from start to finish of the show's seven years on air.
10. Will the CLAM ROE SLEEP in this Los Angeles apartment block?

Answer: Melrose Place

The apartment complex in Melrose Place, Los Angeles, was filled with scheming, conniving, manipulative people which made for compelling viewing. Heather Locklear, Kristin Davis, Jack Wagner, Marcia Cross, Alyssa Milano and Josie Bisset were just a few of the stars who were involved in 'Melrose Place' in the soap opera's seven year run which ended in 1999.
