Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Tara's a wife and mother living with dissociative identity disorder, formerly known as multiple personality disorder. In the "Pilot" we found out all but which of the following?

Answer: Tara had a identical twin that died in utero

We met Tara's husband Max, played by John Corbett. Tara's sister Charmaine seemed to be interested in Max, and tried to play the sympathetic sister-in-law for him to lean on. He didn't seem to notice, as he dealt with T, Tara's 15 year old teenage identity.

He told Charmaine he'd been dealing with the other identities for 17 years and was used to them. There was enough chatter in the opener to reveal that Tara had decided to go off her meds, doctor allowed, recently and they'd been expecting her "others" to make an appearance.

It seemed that T's appearance was the result of Tara finding a prescription for the morning after pill in her daughter's bag. Later, T revealed she'd helped Kate get the pills, though Tara wasn't aware of it.
2. Who was the "bit too" prim and proper to be believed alter, that appeared in the second episode "Aftermath"?

Answer: Alice

Alice was the perfect picture of a 1950s TV housewife. Physically, she appeared (to me) like a cross between Lucy Ricardo and June Cleaver. She appeared in time to attend a parent teacher conference with Tara's husband Max. Later, she tried to seduce Max, and he flatly refused her advances.
3. Tara and Max's daughter Kate began working at a local restaurant in the third episode, "Work". What was the name of the food chain she worked at?

Answer: Barnaby's

Barnaby's may be a real food chain, but I have never heard of it. It appeared to be a hybrid of Applebee's and Bennigan's. Kate's new boss, Gene, really liked her and they enjoyed a cigarette together as he waxed philosophical about his "impressive" career. The more he talked, the more Kate started to like him. He showed her a picture of himself posing with rocker Don Dokken.
We also met Tara's therapist in this episode, Dr. Ocean, who insinuated a little that Tara might want to consider allowing Max to have sex with her alters.
4. Tara's son Marshall had a crush on a young man. Played by Andrew Lawrence, what was the name of Marshall's crush?

Answer: Jason

In the episode "Revolution", Tara transitioned into T and drew Max away from home. Kate, in a moment of sisterly love, helped Marshall get Jason's attention by hosting an impromptu party at their parentless home. Aunt Charmaine showed up while the party was in full swing and called their parents home. Andrew Lawrence is the youngest Lawrence brother. His famous siblings are Joey and Matthew.

Jason showed himself to be a very religious teen, whose belief in the evils of homosexuality were obvious. Now that being stated, Jason showed real signs of being interested in Marshall as well.
5. Though Tara believed herself to be transition free during her parents' visit in episode six "Transition", she in fact transitioned into an alter Max had never seen before.

Answer: True

This alter displayed some alarming animalistic behaviors and urinated on Tara's father in the middle of the night. Upon seeing this happen, Max became more determined to find the source of Tara's illness. He didn't reveal to Tara that she had changed, and Tara had no memory of it the next day.

Her parents had come to visit because it was Charmaine's birthday, but it was revealed that Charmaine had played a back seat to Tara her entire life. The parents had actually come to try and take Kate and Marshall away.

They proposed a temporary stay so Tara could get better. Tara didn't find out that news until the visit was almost over, as Max had decided against telling her the news. In the episode that followed this one, Alice revealed that the wild alter was named Gimme.
6. Charmaine had breast augmentation repair surgery in "Alterations". Tara had planned to be her "boob buddy" and help her recover afterward. Instead, who showed up to take Charmaine home after the surgery?

Answer: Buck

Charmaine had an augmentation that left her breasts asymmetrical. One of them didn't face forward anymore, so she went for a repair. Tara was going to pick her up and take her home. They'd watch movies and Tara would help Charmaine recover. Instead, Buck emerged during surgery and arrived post-op to retrieve Charmaine. Though she was initially upset, Charmaine received pretty good after care from Buck. During that time, it seemed Charmaine started to believe that Tara wasn't hosting one big fantasy sequence in order to avoid her life. Tara came back while Buck was washing Charmaine's hair. Also in this episode, Max found Tara's school roommate and friend, Heidi Sawyer.

Heidi revealed that her boyfriend Tripp had possibly raped Tara, though Heidi hadn't believed it at the time.
7. Things began to look promising for Marshall in episode ten, "Betrayal", with regards to his crush Jason. Is it true that Alice arrived in time to make out with Jason and ruin the budding romance?

Answer: No

After Marshall and Jason shared some intimacy in Marshall's room, they said their goodbyes as T looked on. When Marshall went back inside the house, T took Jason to her shed out back and tried to seduce him. Marshall caught them in the act of making out, and later burned down T's shed.

In the episode that followed this one, Kate pointed out that T arrived on scene to protect Marshall. She said that T wanted to out Jason as the bi-curious church goer he was and save Marshall heartache later. Marshall did not want to believe his sister was right, but didn't have much choice when she explained that Jason might have sex with boys now, but would grow up to marry a woman.
8. Tara entered a medical facility in the episode "Snow" in order to try and retrieve the traumatic memory that created her disorder. After a disappointing round of attempts, who was the only alter to show itself?

Answer: Buck

Dr. Holden tried hypnotherapy several times to bring forth whichever alter held the memory of Tara and Tripp that supposedly caused Tara's D.I.D. Unfortunately, and frustratingly, it would not work. So, finally he tried a dose of sodium pentathol. When Tara was relaxed and into the drug, the doctor asked for the alter to come forth with the memory. Instead, Buck popped out and said "what's in it for me" as he held tight to the IV tube. By the end of this episode, Max had had enough and Tara agreed to meet the infamous Tripp Johanson to attempt and retrieve the memories she'd lost.

Joel Gretsch played Dr. Holden. He was previously seen for five seasons on "The 4400".
9. In the season one finale, "Miracle", Kate met with the Barnaby's corporate officers. Did she win her sexual harassment case and get the money she'd hoped for?

Answer: No

The corporate higher ups made it clear that she had no case against her boss Gene. When she showed them a cellphone picture of him in a compromising position, it only made her case weaker. She thought they'd get scared and pay immediately, but they told her that the picture proved she'd willingly participated in a sexual relationship with her boss.

Afterward, she stormed home and was in the process of relating her experience back to Marshall when he got a text informing him that his crush Jason had walked into Starbucks with a girl named Denise on his arm.

He realized that both Kate and T had been right, and Kate told him (more or less) to go tell it to their mom, whom he hadn't been speaking to. Later, Gene arrived at Kate's home to inform her he'd been fired, and also to profess his deep love for her. Kate placated him and snuck out of her house as quickly as she could!
10. After the meeting with Tripp, what did everyone discover?

Answer: All of these

During the meeting with Tripp and his wife Judy, Tripp revealed that he had been very intoxicated the night of May 12th. Tara stated that she too had been very drunk and couldn't recall what had happened. When nothing much had been accomplished, Tripp and Judy stood up to leave. Tripp said goodbye to T instead of Tara, which revealed volumes about the hidden truth. Tara had always believed Tripp had raped her that night and that had caused her to split. I knew better as I watched the season unfold, as D.I.D rarely occurs after childhood and after one traumatic event at an older age. Tripp's unintentional revelation caused Tara to start splitting rapidly. T came out first and claimed that night as her own, which is why Tara had no recollection of it.

Afterward, she revealed she'd slept with Tripp's buddy Mike as well, and then later Mike and Tripp had also had sex! Buck and Alice also came out briefly before Tara reclaimed her body. I guess next season will start the journey for Tara to find out what really caused her to split, which I will guess was some heinous childhood trauma. Stay tuned!
