Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Did Eddie (as Mulder) have to get Scully to help him open his office door?

Answer: no

Though Eddie struggled with finding the right key, Scully was too deeply engrossed in the files she was reading to notice. After she walked off down the hall, Eddie found the key and let himself into the office.
2. What aspect of Mulder's office did Eddie seem to be most taken aback by?

Answer: "I Want to Believe" poster

When he got into the office, Eddie sat down in the chair and put his feet up on the desk. He leaned back too far, though, and the chair almost tipped over! Eddie had to grab the table to right himself. Sitting more conventionally, he swiveled the chair around and saw the poster, exclaiming, "Good night! This is where my tax dollars go!?"
3. When Eddie got to Mulder's apartment, the first thing he said revealed that he'd noticed what?

Answer: no bed

Eddie looked around the apartment and asked, "Where the hell do I sleep?" Mulder, of course, always slept on the couch. He wouldn't get a bed in the apartment until later in the series, when another strange phenomenon left another man looking like Mulder and living his life (in "Dreamland"). That man had somewhat different tastes than Mulder, and bought a waterbed.
4. On Mulder's message machine, what did Langly say he and the other Lone Gunmen were going out to eat?

Answer: cheese steaks

In Mulder's apartment, Eddie was listening to Mulder's phone messages. After Langly told Mulder about new information in the JFK assassination, he mentioned that the Lone Gunmen were going out for cheese steaks. Eddie summed the message up as "Geeks for friends."
5. Seeing himself in a reflection, Eddie did an impression of what screen character?

Answer: Travis Bickle in "Taxi Driver"

When Eddie first went to thee mirror, he practiced brandishing Mulder's FBI credentials. He moved on quickly, though, to doing his best Robert DeNiro impression, challenging, "You looking at me? There ain't nobody else here, you must be lookin' at me. You want a piece of this?" When Eddie tried to pull his gun, though, the clip fell to the ground, ruining the illusion.
6. What did Eddie (as Mulder) bring to Scully's apartment?

Answer: wine

Eddie showed up at Scully's door, interrupting her reading. When she saw the bottle of wine, she asked who it was for. Eddie seemed a bit hesitant, but then admitted, "Uh, us." Scully took the bottle and invited Mulder into her apartment. As she uncorked the bottle and collected some wine glasses, Eddie awkwardly tried to find an alluring position to sit in on the couch.
7. Had Scully's prom night been ruined by the cops?

Answer: no

She and her date Marcus had been about to consummate the night when Scully was distracted by sirens. Eddie as Mulder asked who had called the cops, and Scully corrected him, saying "It wasn't the cops it was the fire department." Apparently, Scully's friend and her prom date had "built this campfire that went totally out of control and so we all had to ride back on the, um... what do you call it? The um, the pumper truck."
8. Did Scully and Eddie (as Mulder) kiss?

Answer: no

Eddie leaned in and their lips were about to touch when Mulder burst through the door to Scully's apartment. Mulder stopped dead in his tracks, shocked by the image of himself about to lock lips with Scully. Scully was similarly shocked, seeing two of Mulder.

When she realized that the Mulder on her couch wasn't really Mulder, she pushed him away and jumped up. Dejected, Eddie morphed back into himself and shrugged at Scully's expression.
9. What did Eddie's hat say when Mulder visited him at the reformatory?

Answer: Superstar!

Mulder asked what was with the hat, and he explained, "My court-appointed therapist makes me wear it. She says it's meant to bolster my self-esteem." When Mulder asked if it was working, Eddie confessed, "Not really. The other inmates just beat me up and take it from me. Which would be okay except that every week she brings me a new hat." Eddie then complained that he was being given a muscle relaxant that prevented him from making faces the way he used to.
10. What did Eddie say Mulder was by choice?

Answer: a loser

Mulder wanted to get down to business and asked what Eddie had wanted to talk about. Eddie replied, "I just think it's funny. I was born a loser, but you're one by choice." When Mulder asked what he'd based that "astute assessment" on, Eddie replied simply, "Experience." When Mulder rejoined Scully in the hallway after the interview, she said, "I don't imagine you need to be told this Mulder, but you're not a loser." Mulder didn't seem comforted by her reassurance and reminded her, "Yeah, but I'm no Eddie Van Blundht either. Am I?" Mulder seemed pretty dejected, thinking about what Eddie had been able to do when Scully thought he was Mulder!
