Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where did Angie Pintero first notice blood?

Answer: bowling ball

After sending Harold home, Pintero noticed that the pin setter was stuck in a cycle on one lane. He walked over to press the reset button for the lane and a bowling ball returned. When Pintero touched it, he got blood on his hand. Confused, he walked down the lane and saw a pool of blood next to one of the pins.

When Pintero looked up, he saw a pale vision of a girl stuck in the pin setter mechanism trying to talk to him. He ran off to get help and called 911 when he noticed cop cars out front.

When he got outside to tell the officer about the girl, he noticed a girl on the street with her throat cut, and it was the same woman he'd seen inside!
2. What words did Mulder reveal were written in the floor of the bowling lane?

Answer: she is me

Mulder poured a bit of soda on the floor, which showed the words carved into the wax floor.
3. When Mulder asked the patients of the New Horizon Psychiatric Center about making phone calls on Friday night, he got no response. What did Mr. Alpert suggested reminding the patients of the day in question by the menu. What had they eaten that night?

Answer: Sloppy Joes

When Mulder clarified that he was asking about Sloppy Joe night, he got responses from the patients, but none that were helpful.
4. Scully noticed a common detail on the victims' hands involving what?

Answer: rings

Scully noticed that in each of the victims, a ring was taken off one hand and transferred to the other. She suggested it might be "ego dystonia," a "form of obsessive-compulsive disorder where a person has the persistent and inescapable impulses to change things, to organize, to reorganize."
5. Where was Scully when she saw the fourth victim's ghost?

Answer: bathroom

Scully was in the bathroom of the psychiatric center, bent over a sink, cleaning up her nosebleed. When she stood up, she saw the words "she is me" written on the mirror in blood. Scully was shocked, and looked around the corner of the wall to find the girl's ghost trying to say something.

When Mulder knocked on the door and called her name, Scully turned toward the sound, and when she looked back, the girl's ghost and the ominous words had disappeared.
6. Who did Harold see in ghost form when showing the scorecards to Mulder, Detective Hudak, and his lawyer?

Answer: Angie Pintero

When Harold saw the ghost, he got very upset and ran back to the front desk, where he found Pintero collapsed on the floor and a cop abandoning his life-saving efforts.
7. What connection did Mulder point out between Harold and the other people who'd seen the apparitions?

Answer: they were all dying

Mulder came to Scully's apartment to tell her about the connection. He pointed out that the others who'd seen apparitions had had emphysema, cancer, and heart disease and suspected that Harold was also dying. Scully was understandably disturbed by the connection, since she had seen one of the ghosts herself, but agreed to review Harold's medical records so as to determine whether or not he was dying.
8. Where was Scully when Nurse Innes attacked her?

Answer: bathroom

After talking to Harold's roommate, Scully went to the bathroom to ask Innes about Harold's medications. When Innes dropped a handful of pills on the floor, Scully told her to step into the hallway. Innes then withdrew the scalpel from her pocket and attacked Scully. Scully had to shoot Innes in the shoulder to stop her, and Mulder cam running at the sound of the gunshot.
9. Who had committed the murders?

Answer: Nurse Innes

Nurse Innes had been telling Harold that she was poisoning his medications so that he wouldn't take them, and then taking them herself. However, they had adverse effects on her: violence and unpredictable behavior. Scully theorized that Innes might have killed the girls as a way of depriving Harold of the happiness he found in loving them.
10. Did they find Harold?

Answer: yes

Harold had been found in an alley a few blocks from the psychiatric center, but the paramedics couldn't revive him. Mulder told Scully that it appeared to have been "apnea - respiratory failure." When Scully told Mulder that Harold hadn't been dying, but had rather been killed because Nurse Innes deprived him of his medication, Mulder questioned her about her reticence to accept his theory of the case. Scully revealed that she'd seen one of the victims' ghosts, and she and Mulder argued a bit before he reassured her, "I know what you're afraid of. I'm afraid of the same thing." Then Scully went to her car, where she saw a brief vision of Harold's ghost in her back seat.
