Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Age of Mythology", which of the following is NOT a civilisation one can play?

Answer: Roman

In fact, there are only three civilisations - Greek, Norse and Egyptian, each with its own unique culture and 'playing environment'. The difference is much more prominent than "Age of Empires" series. In "Age of Mythology", each civilisation gains the favour of a particular God as they progress through the ages.
2. How do the Greeks gain favour?

Answer: By praying in temples

In "Age of Mythology", the resources are Food, Wood, Gold and Favour. Favour is necessary for summoning Myth units. Favour is obtained in different ways for different civilisations. Myth units are determined by the God you worship and can include Gorgons, Minatours, Pegasus, Cyclops etc (for Greeks).
Egyptians gain favour by building monuments and Norse gain favour when they fight!
3. Which of the following is not a "Major God" for the Greeks?

Answer: Hera

There are only three major Gods for each civilisation - each God gives its followers unique "gifts". Hera's God power is "Lightning Storm" and her myth units include Medusa and Carcinos.
4. In the campaign, we follow the adventures of a character called Arkantos. Where is he from?

Answer: Atlantis

Arkantos is a military commander from Atlantis - he helps the Greeks defeat Troy.
5. A Hero can retrieve and garrison relic units.

Answer: True

Heroes from various civilisations can gather relics and garrison them in temples. In "Age of Empires - 2", it used to be the work of the priests. Relics can offer either military or economic assistance.
6. "Golden Apples" is obtained by worshipping which Goddess?

Answer: Aphrodite

"Golden Apples" is researched at Town Center and increases favour generation rate. "Enyo, or Strife, the daughter of Ares, decided to sow discord by producing a golden apple inscribed "to the fairest." The goddesses Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite immediately began squabbling over for which one of them the apple was intended.

A shepherd named Paris was chosen to answer the question. Athena offered him wisdom. Hera offered him power. Aphrodite offered him the most beautiful woman in the world. Paris chose Aphrodite.

The most beautiful woman in the world turned out to be Helen, wife of a prominent Greek king, and her abduction began the Trojan War." ("Age of Mythology" manual)
7. Which "improvement" can be obtained by worshipping Hermes and helps to increase Centaur (a myth unit) hit points and attack?

Answer: Sylvan Lore

"Although Hermes was associated more with music and travel than with Sylvan environment, he was the father of Pan (with Dryope), who was the Greek god of wooded areas and fields. Pan's mother fled at the sight of him, but Hermes took Pan up to Olympus, where he entertained the gods as a jester." ("Age of Mythology" manual)
8. Which Civilisation involved using Ox Carts as a means to gathering resources?

Answer: Norse

The Ox cart represented the life style of the Norse who used to hunt far away from their lands due to scarcity of resources. The Ox cart can collect food, wood and gold.
9. The "Atef Crown" can be obtained by worshipping which God/Goddess?

Answer: Osiris

It can be researched at a temple and increases mummy hit points and attack; increases the life span of their minions. "Osiris was often depicted wearing this conical white crown topped by the solar disk and flanked by two red ostrich plumes. The white crown was the crown of Upper Egypt, the solar disk was a sun symbol of kingship and the red feathers were symbols of the two truths-life and death.

The feather was also a symbol of Ma'at, the goddess of truth and justice." ("Age of Mythology" manual)
10. Controlling all the Relics in a map for a particular period of time ensures your victory in normal multi-player games.

Answer: False

Unlike "Age of Empires", you cannot win by garrisoning the Relics and protecting them.
