Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the nickname of the player character, MacTavish, for SAS missions?

Answer: Soap

Captain Price asked what kind of name "Soap" was in the training mission, but no answer was given. When playing through the game, your squad mates call you Soap; not MacTavish.

Gaz was an SAS agent that accompanied you on all your missions, along with Captain Price.
2. In the prologue mission, you assaulted a cargo ship. Where was the ship?

Answer: Bering Strait

During the loading video for the mission, the satellite image moved around the world to focus on the Bering Strait. When it zoomed in on the wire-frame helicopter, it said "tracking 'Soap' MacTavish" and below said "Bering Strait". In the final cutscene of the main story, the newscaster can be heard saying that the search for the missing ship in the Bering Strait had been called off.
3. What was the name of the Russian informant in the Ultranationalist group?

Answer: Nikolai

Nikolai was the informer that provided the information for the Cargo Ship mission. He was then captured and scheduled to be executed. The SAS were inserted into the Caucasus Mountains in Russia to liberate him from the Ultranationalists.

Kamarov is the leader of the Russian loyalists you met up with on your mission to free Nikolai. He got you to snipe enemies that were hampering his forces, promising he would lead you to Nikolai. Finally, Price lost his temper and you searched for Nikolai on your own. Kamarov was seen later in the game whenever you were operating with the Loyalists.

Victor was the son of Imran, and one of the main antagonists.

Vasquez was your commanding officer when you played as Sgt. Jackson of the USMC.
4. What was the name of the portable lock-on missile system used in the game?

Answer: Javelin

You could have used the Javelin as many as three times in the game. The first time you used it was in "The Bog" where there were four tanks on an overpass. The next time was in the level "Safehouse" when the SAS captured Al-Asad. There was a single tank on one side of the hill, and a Javelin located at the top of a church on the other side. If you chose not to use the Javelin, you would have used C4 explosives on the tank instead. Finally, in the mission "Heat" when escaping Al-Asad's hideout, there was a Javelin in the barn that you used to tank down four advancing tanks.

To use the Javelin, you have to "look-down the sights", line it up with your target, wait for a lock, and fire. The missile with be launched forward and then up. It'll attack from above, destroying its target instantly.

Another lock-on missile weapon you get to use is the Stinger, which is operated in the same manner. You use one in "Hunted" to take down an enemy helicopter.

The SMAW and LAW do not have guidance systems.
5. In the USMC missions, there is a tank that you have to secure and escort. What is its callsign?

Answer: Warpig

You had to first fight your way through the city filled with Al-Asad's forces and secure the area so the engineers could safely be brought in to repair the tank. Then you had to escort the tank back to the main highway, protecting it from RPG attacks.

Angel Maker and Dust Devil were both names used for tanks in "Call of Duty 2".

Shiela is the name of the tank in the miniseries "Red vs. Blue" by Rooster Teeth.
6. In one mission, you had to provide air cover for a group of SAS. What kind of aircraft were you the gunner of?

Answer: Spectre Gunship

In one mission, "Death From Above", you play as a nameless gunner of a Spectre Gunship, using Thermal Imaging to locate enemy forces and provide air cover for the fleeing SAS group. You had three different guns to use: the 25mm, 40mm, and 105mm guns. The larger the gun, the larger the damage and splash it had.

The smaller the gun, the faster it recycled its rounds. The good guys were marked with infrared strobes so you knew who not to shoot at.
7. In a USMC mission, a Cobra (attack helicopter) is shot down. What was its callsign?

Answer: Deadly

Deadly was a Cobra attack helicopter that aided you in the final USMC mission. She was shot down and you had to rescue her. Had you not rescued her, you would probably have been out of the blast radius when the nuclear warhead detonated.

Hammer Two-Four was the call sign of the helicopter that flew you to the cargo ship in the prologue.

Echo 419 was the call sign of Foe Hammer from the game "Halo".

Blackout was the name of a Decipticon from the Transformers movie. He transformed into a Pave Low.
8. Did Al-Asad ever get to detonate his nuclear warhead?

Answer: Yes

Al-Asad had his forces detonate the nuclear warhead in the capitol city of the Middle Eastern country. You experienced this first hand as the USMC's Paul Jackson. Originally, his helicopter was swept up in the blast and went down in the city. Although he survived the crash, he soon succumbed to the intense amounts of radiation. That was the last you played as the Americans in "Call of Duty 4".
9. Which faction captured Al-Asad?

Answer: SAS

Your SAS team captured Al-Asad in the mission "Safehouse". While interrogating him, he was called by Imran Zakaev on his cell phone. Price answered it and then executed Al-Asad after learning Imran's identity.

The RCMP is Canada's police force, and is not featured in the game.
10. In the flashback missions, who did you play as?

Answer: Price

In the flashback missions you played as Lieutenant Price in a two man sniper team led by Captain MacMillan. The first level involved making your way to the hotel from which you would be sniping from. The second level was the attempt at Imran Zakaev's life and the extraction, which involved navigating many apartment buildings and carrying a wounded MacMillan.

Lieutenant Vasquez was your superior officer during the USMC portions of the game. He was killed in the nuclear explosion.

MacGregor is an ally that assisted you in the British portion of "Call of Duty 2" along with an alternate incarnation of Captain Price (although they look remarkably similar). Captain Price was also featured in "Call of Duty (1)", and again looks similar to his other embodiments.
11. In the flashback mission, Imran was sniped, but not killed. What did he lose instead of his life?

Answer: An arm

When sniping Imran, you had to take into account the wind (which could be determined by the small flags on the vehicles). When you landed a direct hit (regardless of where your crosshairs were placed) the shot take of his left arm and he was sent spinning. You did not have a chance at a second shot because he flew out of view, and you were then attacked by a helicopter and other Ultranationalist forces.
12. How was Victor Zakhaev related to Imran Zakhaev?

Answer: Victor is Imran's Son

Victor was Imran's son and one of the Four Horsemen (The main antagonists). In the mission "Sins of the Father", you chased down Victor in order to interrogate him. Eventually he was cornered at the top of an apartment building and committed suicide as you tried to relieve him of his weapon. In his fury at the death of his son, Imran launched two nuclear missiles.
13. Two nuclear warheads were launched near the end of the game. What was their target?

Answer: The United States

Two missiles were launched, each containing six warheads. Each one was headed for a major city on the United States' eastern seaboard. When in the bunker, you had a time limit within which you had to input the abort codes for the warheads. You eventually reached the control room and aborted both warheads over the Atlantic. You then made your way to the garage and stole a truck in order to escape.
14. Which character did not die by the end of the story?

Answer: MacTavish

Jackson was the first to be killed, doing so at the end of the first act when Al-Asad's forces detonated the nuclear device.

Griggs and Gaz both survived until the last mission. After the tanker truck exploded, hurling you away, Griggs came and tried to pull you to safety while holding off enemy forces, but was shot. Imran was then seen walking towards you (MacTavish), and fired a round, point blank, into Gaz. As Imran walked forward, the enemy helicopter was attacked by the Loyalist group. While Imran was distracted, you looked over to see Captain Price slide a pistol at you. You took out Imran and his two guards. A Russian medic told you that you are going to make it, while you saw another performing CPR on Price.
15. What was the name of the Epilogue Mission?

Answer: Mile High Club

"Mile High Club" was the name of the mission and "???" was its level description. The line "And don't call me Shirley," said during the loading sequence, was a reference to the movie "Airplane!"

"Death From Above" was the name of the mission in which you operated the guns of the Spectre Gunship.
