Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. To begin his very complex plan to expose the traitor, Nagito blew up which building?

Answer: Hotel lobby

Nagito became obsessed with revealing the traitor and vowed to do so by any means necessary. The other students team up to stop him, but Nagito is too chaotic to be controlled. One day, Nagito blows up the hotel lobby. No one is seriously injured despite everyone being in the lobby at the time.

He warns everyone that the explosion is just a small sample of what he has in store for them.
2. What did Nagito claim would disarm the bombs he set up in the factory?

Answer: The traitor's ehandbook

Nagito reveals the next phase of his plan. He has hidden a large stash of bombs somewhere in the island chain that is powerful enough to destroy everything. He only gives them a vague clue that it is somewhere everyone has been. The other students assume Nagito is lying and search the three places they had not visited: Monomi's hut, the castle and the ruins. They find nothing.

Eventually, they find the stash in the Monokuma plushie factory along with a video message from Nagito. In it, he says that the bombs can be disarmed if the traitor (whom he claims to know the identity of) scans his or her ehandbook into the computer. Although some students scan there books, not all of them do and time begins to wind down. At the last second, Sonia runs in and says the bombs are fake and she knows this because she found one and tested it. It didn't blow up.
3. According to the Monokuma file, how did Nagito die?

Answer: No cause of death was listed

The students rush into the warehouse to find Nagito. However, the warehouse suddenly erupts in a blaze. The students use the fire grenades from the factory but they are of no use. Eventually, the sprinklers turn on and douse the flames. They find Nagito tied up in the back of the warehouse.

His body is cut up and a spear impaled him in the abdomen. As the investigation begins, they all assume the spear killed him but, as Chiaki and Hajime point out, the Monokuma file oddly lists no cause of death: something that hadn't happened before.
4. Who tied up Nagito and cut up his arms and legs?

Answer: Nagito

Initially, Akane and Fuyuhiko are the prime suspects because they were the angriest at Nagito's antics and Akane threatened to torture him, which is what appears to have happened. However, everyone has an alibi for at least part of the day and no one seems to have been missing long enough to have killed and tortured Nagito.

There are several items with unusual blood patterns on them, including a rope, duct tape and a Monokuma plushie. The only logical explanation is that Nagito did this to himself. He impaled his hand with a knife and softened the blow with the Monokuma doll. He then cut up his arms and legs before duct taping and tying himself up. The blood on the rope is missing in such a way that it looks like someone was gripping it. There is a similar shape on the duct tape.
5. Where was the poison that killed Nagito hidden?

Answer: In a fire grenade

Because the Monokuma file did not list a cause of death, the students begin to suspect things are not as they seem. Chiaki and Hajime discover an opened bottle of Monokuma poison in Nagito's cabin that he apparently used. But there doesn't seem to be a way the poison was administered to Nagito nor did it seem Nagito poisoned anyone else.

The only explanation is that Nagito put poison in one of the fire grenades. He rigged the warehouse in such a way that when the door opened, a fire started. He knew the students would run to the fire grenades in an attempt to extinguish the fire. When they threw the grenades, one of them released poison which killed Nagito and caused him to lose his grip on the rope attached to the spear. The spear impaled him, disguising his cause of death.

However, Monokuma will not accept suicide as the correct verdict. The students need to determine who threw the poisoned grenade.
6. Which of the following characters is NOT someone who knew the bombs Nagito set up were fake before Sonia announced that?

Answer: Kazuichi

Sonia had expert knowledge of weapons and bombs and she suspected the bombs were fake. She took a bomb and tried to blow up the door to the ruins but it failed to detonate. Monomi observed Sonia do this and, despite hiding in the bushes, Sonia saw her.

Monokuma knows everything about the island, including that the bombs were fake. However, he pretended they were real for the purposes of suspense and to see where Nagito's plot went. Nagito also knew the bombs, except the one he detonated in the hotel, were fake. His plan was to lure everyone to the fake bombs and then to the warehouse where his body would be found.

Kazuichi did not know the bombs were fake until Sonia informed the group. In addition, the group speculates that the traitor may very well have known the bombs were fake as well. Monomi is allied with the Future Foundation and working with the traitor so it would make sense that she told the traitor this information.
7. What does Hajime say is the key in determining who killed Nagito?

Answer: Nagito's ability as the Ultimate Lucky Student

There is no practical way of determining who threw the poisoned fire grenade since all the evidence was burned in the fire and everyone threw theirs at the same time. Hajime argues that the only way to determine who actually killed Nagito is by relying on their "friend's" ability. Nagito was the Ultimate Lucky Student whose luck revealed itself many times previously. For example, Nagito survived the Russian Roulette game in Chapter 4 and got picked for cleaning duty by random in Chapter 1.

Nagito's luck is so strong, argued Hajime, that the person Nagito wanted to kill would have grabbed the poisoned grenade. Nagito wanted to separate the traitor from the group so it stands to reason he wanted the traitor to kill him. They just had to determine who that traitor was.
8. Who was revealed as the traitor for the Future Foundation?

Answer: Chiaki

Chiaki had been working alongside Monomi and the mysterious Future Foundation from the beginning. However, she claims the organization is misunderstood and her classmates have entirely the wrong idea. Chiaki did not know she killed Nagito but suspected that was the case. She also did not believe Nagito was on to her identity as he never confronted her about it, despite his claims that he did know who the traitor was.

Monomi told Chiaki the bombs were fake which is why Chiaki jumped at the chance to scan her ehandbook into the computer. She knew she had to protect her secret at all costs.
9. The journal Hajime and Chiaki discovered in Nagito's bedroom, contained a key entry that reveals the traitor. What is this entry about?

Answer: Stopping Hajime from entering the Final Dead Room

Earlier in the chapter, Monomi complained about something being stolen from her cabin. She never stated what it was but only that it was important. Later, Chiaki and Hajime find a journal in Nagito's cabin. It reads very like it was written by Monomi. However, Monomi cannot write so it must have been written by the person working alongside her: the traitor.

The traitor took great pains to conceal their identity in the journal. However, one entry mentions how the traitor persuaded Hajime not to attempt the Final Dead Room in the previous chapter which is something Chiaki did.
10. What was Nagito's ultimate goal?

Answer: To kill everyone but the traitor

Nagito wanted to identify the traitor and the only way to do that was to have the traitor kill him. However, Nagito did this in such a way that was nearly impossible for the others to solve. The students realize in horror that Nagito planned to get them all killed when they were unable to solve his murder.

As Nagito explained in a message after the trial, he didn't really care what happened to everyone else. He only wanted to expose the traitor.
