Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the following is NOT something Makoto learns in the aftermath of the third class trial?

Answer: The school store will be permanently closed

Kyoko appeared suspicious during the trial for Taka and Hifumi's murders because she went missing for most of the investigation and then refused to tell anyone where she was during that time. After the trial, she confides in her closest friend Makoto that was actually exploring the school, specifically she found a hidden room in the second floor boys' bathroom that contained documents and files on all of the students. There was a file there for someone named Mukuro Ikusaba who was apparently part of the same class as the other fifteen but is not part of the killing game. Kyoko suspects that Mukuro is the mastermind behind the killing game and calls her the Ultimate Despair.

Makoto goes to check out the room but is knocked unconscious by an unknown figure. When he awakens, the entire room has been cleaned out. When he exits, he hears a commotion coming from the gym. When Makoto goes there, he sees Sakura sparring with Monokuma. Sakura says she refuses to honor their deal as she has become friends with the other students while Monokuma expresses his disappointment but says he does not need her anymore.

The school store remains open until the end of the game and never closes at any time.
2. Who does Toko/Genocide Jack attack and injure in the dining hall?

Answer: Hina

Monokuma wastes no time with his next motive and reveals to the group that Sakura is a traitor. Sakura confesses and says she was about to reveal this herself anyway as she had grown close to the others and wishes to defeat the mastermind. Sakura also said she never actually betrayed anyone. She was supposed to begin the killing game the first night but she never killed anyone. The reason she agreed to turn on the group in the first place is because the mastermind took over her family's dojo which had belonged to the Ogamis for centuries. Sakura had to commit a murder in order for the mastermind to return the dojo to its rightful owners.

Naturally, the rest of the students were furious with Sakura and could no longer trust her. Hina defended Sakura, who is her best friend. Kyoko tries to play mediator and says that argument is exactly what Monokuma wanted. Not only is everyone turning against Sakura, they are also turning against everyone else. Toko (as Genocide Jack) always hated Hina and attacks her for defending her friend. Hina's injuries are minor but she requires treatment in the nurse's office.
3. To which room does Alter Ego want Makoto to bring him?

Answer: The secret room

Alter Ego tells Kyoko and Makoto that he has done all he can on his laptop. He was able to find some files and tells them he thinks the headmaster, a man in his late thirties, is the one responsible for keeping the students in the school.

Alter Ego asks if there is a place he can connect himself to the school's main system and the only place that can be is the secret room in the boys' bathroom because there are no cameras there but there is an outlet. Makoto honors this request.
4. Which of the following students is NOT one of the people Sakura asked to meet with her in the rec room?

Answer: Kyoko

Sakura asked Byakuya, Toko and Hiro to meet with her because they were the three most upset by the revelation that Sakura was a traitor. She sent letters to each of them but none of the three admitted to meeting with her at the specified time and her dead body was discovered shortly after the meetings were supposed to happen.
5. What is unusual about the rec room where Sakura's body was discovered?

Answer: It was locked

Sakura was found in a locked room and much discussion is made about this. The room was not actually locked but was blocked shut by a chair. Moreover, there didn't seem to be a way for the murderer to have exited the room. The best theory Makoto and Kyoko can come up with is that someone was hiding in a locker and exited it to join the others in the chaos.
6. How many times was Sakura hit on the head?

Answer: Twice

Sakura was hit on the head with a bottle twice. Toko arrived first to meet with Sakura but then she grew fearful and hid in the locker before Sakura arrived. Hiro arrived for his meeting with Sakura but then he, too, grew fearful that Sakura would try to kill him so he hit Sakura with a bottle, knocking her unconscious. Hiro then framed Toko by writing her name in Sakura's blood on a magazine and left the rec room. Toko exited the locker and hid the magazine. Sakura woke up during this time and Toko also misunderstood Sakura's actions and hit her with another bottle.

However, neither blow killed Sakura.
7. The poison that Sakura took was placed in her what?

Answer: Protein shake

The Monokuma filed stated that in addition to the blows to the head, Sakura also vomited blood. This indicated that Sakura had also been poisoned and that was her true cause of death. Poison disappeared from the chemistry lab on the fourth floor and the matching yellow powder was found on Sakura's sneaker. Makoto determines that Sakura must have been poisoned in her protein powder which was oddly stored on a shelf next to the poison, although the bottles and shelves are clearly labeled.
8. There was broken glass under the empty protein shaker that was found at the crime scene.

Answer: True

There was broken glass under the protein shaker that was on the floor. However, that glass came from the door window which Makoto smashed in order to enter the rec room. This meant that the protein shaker was placed at the crime scene after Sakura's body had been discovered and was not part of the original crime scene.
9. Why did Hina try to sabotage the class trial?

Answer: She was angry the other students led Sakura to suicide

Hina and Sakura were very close friends and Hina was the only person to strongly defend Sakura. She took Sakura's death very hard. Sakura committed suicide because she felt remorse she hurt her friends and hoped to satisfy her promise to Monokuma by murdering herself so he would return her family's dojo. Sakura left a note explaining her reasons and blamed none of the students for her actions. However, Monokuma stole this note and replaced it with another one Hina found. In this faked note, Sakura is much more defiant and places the blame on the others for her not wanting to live anymore.

Monokuma hoped to continue spreading distrust and despair among the students but his plan backfired and they became more united than ever before. Notably, the incident that unites the remaining six students is the fact that Monokuma and the mastermind were no longer playing fair as promised. Monokuma defends himself by saying that him switching the suicide notes did not hinder their ability to solve the crime. However, the six do not buy this and vow to defeat Monokuma and the mastermind controlling him.
10. Who is executed at the end of the fourth class trial?

Answer: Alter Ego

Since Sakura committed suicide, she is both the victim and the murderer. This left no one to execute, which upset Monokuma. Instead, Monokuma decided to punish Alter Ego, Chihiro's digital self. Monokuma tells the class he knew about Alter Ego all along as he was the one who brought the laptop he was created on in the first place. Alter Ego (while in his laptop) receives the Excavator Destroyer punishment which sees his computer crushed by a construction digging machine.
