Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In one installment, I was the second strongest weapon for a spiky haired warrior. I also once was wielded by an uptight, armor-clad Pluto Knight who thought only of protecting his queen. Believe it or not, I also have taken the form of a spaceship! What is my name?

Answer: Ragnarok

Ragnarok, which comes from Norse Mythology, describes the time when Gods and Giants battle each other to the death. It has appeared in numerous 'Final Fantasy' games, mostly as a weapon. In 'Final Fantasy 8', it took the form of a spaceship that Rinoa and Squall came across in space.
2. I've had a number of professions in my day. I worked in a Magitek factory for an omnipotent empire, I was a general for the Nanten army, I've flown in space, I was a headmaster at a military school, the regent of a glorious city, and I even serve as a figurehead for the entire Al Bhed race. Who am I?

Answer: Cid

Was there ever any doubt? The name 'Cid' is repeated throughout the 'Final Fantasy' series. The ones I used in the question are merely the most recent ones, but rest assured the name has been used in many more 'Final Fantasy' titles.
3. I am a very powerful weapon that has been wielded by several skilled female warriors. The Divine Knight Meliadoul equips me at her side when she heads into battle. General Beatrix of Alexandria uses me to protect her country and the people in it. I also have been utilized by Instructor Trepe, in the form of a whip rather than a sword. What am I called?

Answer: Save the Queen

This is especially fitting for Beatrix in 'Final Fantasy IX', as her main duty is to protect Queen Brahne and Princess/Queen Garnett. Save the Queen is also the sword Meliadoul uses in 'Final Fantasy Tactics' when you battle her, and it is the sword she comes equipped with when she joins you. In 'Final Fantasy 8', this is Quistis Trepe's final weapon.
4. Ultima Weapon (the monster, not the weapon) has appeared in more 'Final Fantasy' games than any other Weapon monster.

Answer: True

Ultima Weapon has appeared in 'Final Fantasy 7', 'Final Fantasy 8', and 'Final Fantasy 10'. It also did appear in 'Final Fantasy 6', translated as Atma Weapon, but I did not include that in my tally because it was technically not Ultima Weapon. Omega Weapon comes in second place, appearing in two 'Final Fantasy' games.
5. Many of the summons used in the 'Final Fantasy' series reappear frequently. For the four 'Final Fantasy' games that originated on the PSX (Final Fantasies 7, 8, 9, and Tactics), which of the following summons appeared in EXACTLY three of them?

Answer: Ramuh

Ramuh, a staple of the series, was snubbed in 'Final Fantasy 8' and replaced with Quetzacoatl. Bahamut showed up in all 4 games of course (and 3 times in 'Final Fantasy 7' alone). Typoon was only present in 'Final Fantasy 7' and Fenrir only showed up in 'Final Fantasy 9'.
6. I am a mysterious, multi-limbed man who first showed up in 'Final Fantasy 5' as an enemy. In a later installment, I lent my services to Squall Leonhart once I was able to get my hands on Odin's Zantetsuken. Finally, in 'Final Fantasy IX' I appeared as a treasure hunter/thief under the guise of 'Alleyway Jack', until you earn my respect enough to learn my true name. Speaking of which, what is my name?

Answer: Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh has gone through some changes over the years it seems. In 'Final Fantasy 5' he was a boss who kept reappearing over and over again. In 'Final Fantasy 8', he appears very late in the game. He replaces Odin, who is cut down by Seifer, and randomly attacks your enemies for you with one of his 4 swords.

In 'Final Fantasy 9', you must get your treasure hunting rank up to S and then speak to him in Daguerreo. He will then tell you his true name...Gilgamesh.
7. Summon monsters have been called a number of different things aside from the generic 'summon' word. Which of the following is NOT something that summons have been called in a 'Final Fantasy' game?

Answer: Espeon

Hopefully this was a gimme, I felt bad for all of the fill in the blank questions thus far. In 'Final Fantasy 6', summons were called Espers. In 'Final Fantasy 9', summons were called Eidolons. In 'Final Fantasy 10', summons were called Aeons. Espeon...well that's a mixture of two of the words and it's also the name of a Pokemon.
8. Everyone's favorite chocobo, Boco, has appeared in several 'Final Fantasy' titles. Which of the following did he not appear in, in any way, shape, or form?

Answer: Final Fantasy 7

Don't be confused, in 'Final Fantasy 7' the chocobo that appears in the summon attack is called 'Choco' and not Boco. In 'Final Fantasy 5', Boco is the pet chocobo of the main character, Bartz. In 'Final Fantasy 8' Boco is a special summon that will show up and perform 'Choco Fire' if you use some Gysahl Greens during battle. Finally, in 'Final Fantasy 9', Boco shows up in the form of a rare card.
9. The Masamune has shown up in numerous 'Final Fantasy' titles as one of the strongest, if not the strongest swords around. While it technically appeared in each of the following four games, it was improperly named/translated as 'Aura' in one of them. Which game features the version of the Masamune that is called 'Aura'?

Answer: Final Fantasy 6

In 'Final Fantasy 7' the masamune is the long, skinny sword used by the great Sephiroth. In 'Final Fantasy 8', the masamune is one of the 4 swords utilized by Gilgamesh. Finally, in 'Final Fantasy 9', it shows up as one of Zidane's weapons. It was 'Final Fantasy 6' where the Masamune was under the name 'Aura'.
10. Moogles have been in every single 'Final Fantasy' game.

Answer: False

If you thought this was true, you probably hopped on the 'Final Fantasy' bandwagon late into the series. They first showed up in 'Final Fantasy 3' and have popped up quite often since then.
I've been told that they also appeared in Final Fantasy 2, so they date back even further!
