Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Roselia is a dual type Grass/Poison Pokémon first seen in the Hoenn region. However, in Sinnoh it gains both a pre-evolution and an evolution. How does Roselia evolve?

Answer: Shiny Stone

Budew evolves into Roselia with high enough friendship, and Roselia then evolves into Roserade by use of a Shiny Stone. Budew and Roselia can both be found in the wild in Sinnoh, but Roserade, like most final evolutions, cannot.
2. Which of these does NOT evolve into a Pokémon indigenous to the Sinnoh region?

Answer: Chansey

Chansey evolves into Blissey, which made its first appearance in Generation II. However, Chansey's pre-evolved form, Happiny, first appears in Sinnoh and evolves into Chansey if it is leveled up holding an Oval Stone.
3. What is the most uncommon Pokémon that can be lured by honey trees?

Answer: Munchlax

There are twenty honey trees total in the Sinnoh region. Some of these are normal trees and some of these are good trees. A Munchlax will never be lured by a normal tree and is very rarely lured by a good tree.
4. Byron, the Canalave City Gym Leader, owns a Sinnoh Pokémon that is part Steel. The other type is the same as his son's Gym. What Pokémon is this?

Answer: Bastiodon

Byron's son is Roark, the Gym Leader in Oreburgh City. His Bastiodon is both Steel-type and Rock-type, and Roark trains Rock-type Pokémon.
5. Out of all of the legendary Pokémon introduced in Sinnoh, how many are part Steel-type?

Answer: Two

The two Pokémon are Dialga (Dragon/Steel) and Heatran (Fire/Steel). Dialga can be found at Spear Pillar, and Heatran in Stark Mountain after the player enters the Hall of Fame.
6. With which item does Gligar evolve into Gliscor?

Answer: Razor Fang

The Razor Fang functions similarly to the King's Rock - it can cause opponents to flinch after being hit by an attack from the holder. It also has another effect - if Gligar is holding a Razor Fang and is leveled up at night, it will evolve into Gliscor.
7. Only female Combee can evolve.

Answer: True

As well as having a slight visual difference, male and female Combee have a lopsided gender ratio. A Combee has a 1/8 chance of being female, making Vespiquen harder to get.
8. Froslass and Gallade have several similarities. Which one of these statements is false?

Answer: They are both obtained by use of a Shiny Stone

Froslass and Gallade evolve from Kirlia and Snorunt, respectively, and they do evolve by use of the same stone, but it's a Dawn Stone instead of a Shiny Stone. Gallade are exclusively male and Froslass are exclusively female, and Kirlia and Snorunt both come from the Hoenn region. Even though Froslass and Gallade are each only one gender, Gardevoir and Glalie, both of which also evolve from Kirlia and Snorunt, can be either male or female.
9. There are a total of four wild Pokémon that can be found before the player reaches Jubilife City. If a Trainer were to go looking for these Pokémon during the daytime, which one would he or she never find?

Answer: Kricketot

Kricketot can only be found in the morning and at night. This makes it somewhat rarer than Starly, Bidoof, and Shinx but still not too terribly difficult to find as long as it is morning or night.
10. Which of these Pokémon does not evolve in a similar way to the others?

Answer: Sneasel

Lickitung, Tangela, and Aipom all evolve if leveled up knowing a certain move. For Lickitung, Rollout is required, for Tangela, Ancientpower, and for Aipom, Double Hit. If the Pokémon is raised to a certain level and then immediately taught the move, it will also trigger evolution. Sneasel evolves when leveled up holding a Razor Claw at night.
11. Which Pokémon is correctly paired with its evolutionary item?

Answer: Rhydon - Protector

All four of these Pokémon evolve when they are traded holding a certain item. The correct pairings are:

Rhydon - Protector
Electabuzz - Electirizer
Magmar - Magmarizer
Dusclops - Reaper Cloth

All four of these Pokémon were the top of an evolution chain of two prior to Generation IV.
12. Breeding a Manaphy with a Ditto will result in Egg containing what Pokémon?

Answer: Phione

Manaphy has a unique method of breeding - it is impossible to hatch a Manaphy from an Egg, but if a Manaphy is bred with a Ditto, Phione will hatch instead. If the Phione is then bred with the Ditto, another Phione will hatch after that. The only way to get a Ditto egg is to breed two Ditto.
13. Nosepass evolves into Probopass by leveling up while knowing the move Rock Slide.

Answer: False

Nosepass evolves if it is leveled up on Mt. Coronet in Sinnoh. Since Mt. Coronet is not present in subsequent regions, there is a certain spot in the region where Nosepass must be leveled up in order to evolve.
14. How many dual Normal/Flying-type Pokémon were introduced in Generation IV?

Answer: Five

The five Pokémon are Starly, Staravia, Staraptor, Chatot, and Togekiss. Of these, only Togekiss evolves from a Pokémon introduced in an earlier generation.
15. Shellos is a Pokémon that has two very different appearances based on the side of Mt. Coronet it is found on. What color scheme does the eastern Shellos, along with its evolution, Gastrodon, have?

Answer: Green and blue

The western Shellos and Gastrodon are pink and brown, while the eastern Shellos and Gastrodon are blue and green. The overall shape and appearance remain the same between the two, with some minor differences in head shape as well as the coloration.
