Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You have began your journey to return the six crystals. You go to Parapa Palace and take the elevator down. You have two choices. You go right, you'll hit a blockage with a key. You go left, you will find the key to unlock the door. The first enemies you see are "Tinsuits". They give no experience points when you kill them, but do take away your experience points. Going left at the start of Dungeon 1, what is the first enemy you will see besides the Tinsuits?

Answer: Blue Bot

You will see two blue bots on breakable platforms. In the same room past the blue bots you will find a Red Stalfos, which will be your first battle to get your first key.
2. You are almost finished with Parapa Palace. Congradulations. You are almost ready to fight Horsehead, the palace's final boss. Before you fight "Horsehead", however, you must fight two enemies in the room previous to the boss chamber. The last major enemy you fight before Horsehead is an Orange Ironknuckle. What is the enemy you fight before the Orange Ironknuckle?

Answer: Macethrower

I always felt the Macethrowers were Zelda's version of Mario's hammer brothers. This time, however, you can't jump on their head to kill them, but must take them down with the sword. The Macethrower appears before the final blockage that must be opened with a key.
3. You have made it to Midora Palace, the second dungeon in the game. During this dungeon, you will fight the dreaded Ironknuckle several times. How many sites are programmed to feature Ironknuckles in Midora Palace?

Answer: nine

There are nine different locations in Midora Palace where you must fight an Ironknuckle. They come in both orange and red. Midora Palace introduces the Red Ironknuckle for the first time.
4. In the Island Palace, there is a key that is actually outside the palace. This key is guarded by two enemies. The first enemy is a Red Ironknuckle. What is the second enemy?

Answer: Orange Moa

The Island Palace introduces the Orange Moa to the game's list of dungeon enemies. It appears a red eye and drops flame from above. The Moas come in three different colours: orange, red, and purple. The Purple Moas are invisible until you get the cross from Three Eye Rock Palace. The Orange Moa first appears in the dungeons at the very beginning of the Island Palace.
5. Nintendo features Darias as dungeon enemies in certain palaces.

Answer: False

Darias come in two varieties: red and orange. They are lizardmen, and appear only in caves and in the outer world. They never appear in dungeons. The first real encounter with Darias are when you go through the caves south of Saria to get the hammer.
6. In order to attack the wizard Carock, the final boss of the Maze Palace, you must use the Reflect Spell. In what town do you learn the reflect spell?

Answer: Darunia

In order to defeat Carock, you must reflect his evil magic upon him in order to bring about his destruction. Once you figure out Carock's secret, he becomes the easiest final boss in the game, as all you have to do is stand in the corner with your shield down and just let him fire his magic at you. Nintendo also used the idea of reflecting back the evil magic in the SNES title, "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past", when you fight Agahnim, Ganon's alter ego. To gain the Reflect Spell you first must rescue a lost child.
7. Like the third Mouser from Doki Doki Panic, when Nintendo released "Zelda II" in America they replaced the final boss from the fifth dungeon with a troll with a mace. In the Japanese release of "Zelda II", what was the final boss of the fifth dungeon, also known as the Palace by the Sea?

Answer: Helmethead

When Nintendo released "Zelda II: The Adventure of Link" in December 1988, they made numerous changes to the already released Japanese version that had appeared in January 1987. Gooma, the fifth dungeon's final boss, is not present in the Japanese version.
8. In Three Eye Rock Palace, in order to fight Barba, the dragon guardian of that dungeon and final boss, you must fall down a pit and on the second screen after falling you must activate the Fairy Spell in order to go into an otherwise inaccessible passage. Before you see the serpent, however, there is one last enemy awaiting you. What is that enemy?

Answer: Blue Stalfos

The Blue Stalfos is rather easy to avoid, as you are already in Fairy form. Essentially you just fly over him and get ready to fight Barba. In the original US release, the official name of the serpent was Barba. Nintendo in rereleases have since retconned the name back to Volvagia, the serpent's original Japanse name.
9. You are almost finished with the Great Palace. Out of nowhere, a giant Blue Bot drops from the ceiling. Instinctively, you thrust upward with your sword, breaking apart the Blue Bot into several smaller blue bots. The question is, how many?

Answer: Five

The Great Palace can be a pretty intimidating place. It's especially shocking on your first play through when the Giant Blue Bot drops from the sky. Thank Nintendo they gave us the Upward Sword Thrust. The Blue Bots that appear after you destroy the Giant Blue Bot are more difficult to kill than regular Blue Bots.
10. You have beaten the Thunderbird. You are about to lay claim to the Triforce of Courage. In your hour of victory, however, one final enemy must be vanquished: your own shadow! Provided your magic, attack, and health are all at Level Eight, how many times must you strike your shadow before he is beaten?

Answer: 8

The best way to fight Dark Link is get in the left hand corner, kneel, and start stabbing. After beating the Thunderbird, Dark Link won't offer too much of a challenge.
