We never actually see it, but it is implied that this happened when he was a child. One clue of this is that his father, Blake, doesn't mind mernenary Wade calling him names, implying that Blake doesn't like Lenny as much as the other members of the gang.

The Cougars reside in the town of Hope, South Dakota. Several members of the gang serve as enforcers for Blake Dexter, the main antagonist, benefactor of Hope, and Lenny's father. The gang members include Lenny Dexter, Gavin LeBlond, Tyler Colvin, Landon Metcalf, Mason McCready, and Luke Wheeley.
