Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Hookshot is an item that allows Link to pull objects toward himself, or pull himself toward objects. In which game did the Hookshot first appear?

Answer: A Link to the Past

The Hookshot has appeared in many variations across the "Legend of Zelda" series. Some unique variations include the Magnetic Gloves and the Switchhook from "Oracle of Seasons" and "Oracle of Ages" respectively.
2. Impa has been an important figure in Hyrule in many of the games. In which game did she make her first in-game appearance?

Answer: Ocarina of Time

Impa is referenced in both "The Legend of Zelda" and "Adventure of Link" backstories but it is not until "Ocarina of Time" that she makes her first in-game appearance. She has also appeared in the "Oracle" games, "Skyward Sword", "A Link Between Worlds", and "Breath of the Wild".
3. The "Legend of Zelda" series contains many items that consume magic. What was the first game to include a magic meter?

Answer: Adventure of Link

The magic meter first appeared in "Adventure of Link", however this incarnation was drained by spells as opposed to items. Later games do not include a magic meter but include a stamina meter/wheel.
4. In many of the "Legend of Zelda" games, Link plays a musical instrument. What was the first game in which Link acquired a musical instrument?

Answer: The Legend of Zelda

In "The Legend of Zelda", the Recorder (Whistle) is used by Link to defeat the boss Digdogger and open the entrance to Level 7 (Level 6 in the second quest). The Recorder, in both sound and appearance, appears in "Super Mario Brothers 3" as the Warp Whistle.
5. The Deku are a recurring race in the "Legend of Zelda". In which game did they first appear?

Answer: Ocarina of Time

Although the Deku first appear as enemies in "Ocarina of Time", it was not until "Majora's Mask" that the race was fleshed out to include individuals such as the Deku King and Deku Princess. The Deku are one of the three races Link can transform into in "Majora's Mask".
6. One of the less common races, the Anouki, first appeared in which game?

Answer: Phantom Hourglass

The Anouki are a snow-dwelling race, featuring reindeer-like antlers. They have generally appeared in the DS games "Phantom Hourglass" and "Spirit Tracks".
7. Gohma is a boss that has appeared in various incarnations across multiple games. In which game did she first appear as a boss?

Answer: The Legend of Zelda

Gohma typically appears as a single-eyed arthropod. Her single eye is also typically her weak point. She appears in differing forms, such as that of Armogohma in "Twilight Princess".
8. One of the main habitations found in Hyrule is that of Kakariko Village, in which game did this settlement first appear?

Answer: A Link to the Past

In most games, Kakariko Village is nestled at the base of Death Mountain. The Hidden Village of Old Kakariko in "Twilight Princess" suggests that Kakariko Village has been relocated at least once.
9. The Like Like is a shield eating enemy that appears in many games. What was the first?

Answer: The Legend of Zelda

In some games the stolen shield can be retrieved by defeating the Like Like in a timely manner. The Pikit is a similar enemy that appears in "A Link to the Past", using a spiky tongue to steal replaceable items from Link.
10. The Master Sword has been a staple of Link's arsenal since it debuted (by name) in what game?

Answer: A Link to the Past

Although "The Legend of Zelda" featured sword upgrades, these were known as the White and Magical Swords. The Master Sword, being the Sword of Evil's Bane, is usually the only sword with the power to defeat Ganon.
