Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Early in the life of "Call of Duty: World at War" there used to be a glitch in Nacht Der Untoten that essentially allowed the player to live forever, if they got a particular weapon out of the Mystery Box. This glitch involved the player going into the starter room with this weapon, crouching underneath the Kar98K wallbuy, and standing still. In this glitch, the zombies would run towards the player, but instead of hitting them once they reached the player, the zombies would essentially sprint towards the player in place, and would not stop to begin to hit the player, essentially standing still as sitting ducks. What weapon was mandatory for the player to successfully utilize this strategy?

Answer: M2 Flamethrower

The reason why the Flamethrower was mandatory was because it was the only weapon on the map with infinite ammo. If the player didn't have the Flamethrower, they would eventually run out of ammo. If this happened, the player would be stuck in one place, and would pretty much have to stalemate the zombies, neither side able to actually hurt the other. That being said, for as good as the Ray Gun is, using it in this particular capacity could actually cause the player to kill themselves if used recklessly, as the zombies are close enough for the player to be damaging themselves with the Ray Gun.

It should be noted that the Flamethrower is horribly weak and takes a very long time to kill zombies beyond Round 5, so a player looking to make use of this strategy must have a lot of free time on their hands.

Unfortunately, right before Shi No Numa was released, this glitch was patched out of the game, and is therefore impossible to make use of in the world of today.
2. In the Mystery Box room, there is a radio, which can play various Red Army themed songs. How does the player use the radio?

Answer: Shoot or knife it

The player can do this an infinite amount of times in a game. The radio can be found right next to the Mystery Box, and despite being potentially lit on fire, blown up by rockets, blasted by shotguns, or even melted by a Ray Gun, the radio remains undamaged and plays music all game long.
3. What exact type of Grenade is available on the wallbuy?

Answer: Stielhandgranates

Fittingly, the German based map offers German explosives for purchase. Given the World War II era context, Frag and Semtex Grenades don't technically exist, and were therefore not options. Molotov Cocktails can be had from the Mystery Box, but they are Tactical Grenades, therefore the player can have both Stielhandgranates and Molotovs at the same time.

However, Cymbal Monkeys are much more useful, count as Tactical Grenades, and don't stack with Molotovs, so the player should trade in their Molotovs for Monkeys if the Mystery Box yields Monkeys.
4. Users of IOS devices, such as the iPad or iPhone, had a slight advantage to console users in Nacht Der Untoten, from a weapon standpoint. What was this advantage?

Answer: A couple unique, strong weapons could be had from the Mystery Box on IOS devices that were unavailable on console

The PPSH-41 and Type 100 were available out of the Mystery Box on IOS devices, but were not available on console. The PPSH-41 in particular was a very, very strong weapon throughout all of "World at War" and was a welcome addition to this map for IOS users.
5. How many weapons were inside the Mystery Box?

Answer: Twenty-two

Treyarch would soften the risk of using the Mystery Box in later video games, but on Nacht Der Untoten, there was an almost even split between great weapons, good weapons, and bad weapons. Great weapons, such as the Ray Gun or MG42, could be had. Good ones, like the PTRS-41 or MP40, were also solid options.

Then, you had the total clunkers, such as getting the Kar98K, M2 Flamethrower or, worse, the dreadfully awful Springfield rifle. That's why they called it the "Mystery Box"!
6. According to the game, what day and year is it when on this map?

Answer: June 4, 1945

The date itself doesn't really have any particular significance. The general premise is that the unidentified soldier(s) flew a plane over the abandoned German stronghold. When the plane gets gunned down, it crashes and mostly destroys the building. The player(s) then wake up, an unknown amount of time after the crash, and find an army of undead advancing onto their position at the stronghold.
7. An un-destroyed version of this map can be found in two other game modes in "Call of Duty: World at War", which are the campaign and multiplayer modes. What is the name of the campaign mission and multiplayer map, respectively, where the Nacht Der Untoten stronghold building is found?

Answer: Hard Landing and Airfield

It is presumed that this stronghold, still abandoned, is found, canonically, before it is destroyed by an errant airplane crash. However, this information is never confirmed or disclosed in any way.
8. What is the level cap, the highest round a player can reach, on Nacht Der Untoten?

Answer: Infinite

In "World at War" Zombies, there is no level cap, and a player can survive to round one million, in theory. From "Black Ops" all the way to "Black Ops 3", a level cap of 255 was imposed. If a player reaches round 255 in those three games, the round itself perpetuates, never ends, and an endless amount of zombies will spawn until the player(s) are killed or decide to end the game.

In "Black Ops 4", this level cap was increased to 1024. The only time a player can "win the game" is on the Origins map in "Black Ops 2" and "Black Ops 3". By completing the Easter Egg on that map, the game will automatically end.
9. How many weapons on this map can do damage to the wielder if the player is not careful?

Answer: Seven

The Ray Gun, Panserschrek, Stielhandgranates, Cymbal Monkey, Molotov Cocktail, M1 Garand w/ Grenade launcher and M2 Flamethrower can cause self harm if used improperly. The Flamethrower is difficult to damage oneself with, but if you kill a zombie with a melee attack that has been recently set on fire by the Flamethrower, it will explode in your face and cause you damage.

This is a great way to end up dead.
10. How many different ways is it possible to friendly fire on this map?

Answer: Four

By lighting a zombie on fire via the M2 Flamethrower or Molotov Cocktail, you can end up friendly firing by having said zombie explode in a teammate's face. Other ways of friendly firing include throwing a Stielhandgranate and having a teammate pick it up off the ground, killing them if they do not release it soon enough, and blowing up an explosive barrel within proximity of a teammate.
