Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which shark is not found exclusively at night (not including special missions)?

Answer: Zebra shark

The zebra shark can be found both day and night, unlike the others. The frilled shark and the goblin shark are both in the Cavern of the Gods, and are seen only when it's night. The tiger shark lurks past the Kelp Tunnel in the Deep Hole and is also seen only at night. However, during a mission to befriend a bottlenose dolphin, it's possible to see a tiger shark during the day.
2. A certain treasure can only be found at night. GG goes with you, as it's very important to him. What is the name of this treasure?

Answer: Spartan Treasure

In the mission "Salvage Dream" GG admits that his old partner and he had been trying to find the Spartan Treasure. His partner ended up getting hurt and they were never able to find it. In Ciceros Strait, there is a whirlpool that can be harmful if you attempt to swim through it... and that's where it's located.

But at night, the whirlpool stops and it's possible to swim and search for it. After some trial and error, you can find the Spartan Treasure near the night of a full moon at night. In addition to getting some Pelagos for your efforts, you're given a nifty ninja sword!
3. There are even some coins that can only be found at night.

Answer: True

While rare, some coins are only found during the evening! For example, the coin Hydra, which is found in Ciceros Strait, can only be found at night because it's where the dangerous whirlpool is located. At night, the whirlpool stops, and then it's safe to go and collect it. The coin Pluto is found at night only at the Zahhab Region.
4. It's frightening seeing Thanatos for the first time, as it's nighttime. Later, you learn what his name means. What does "Thanatos" mean?

Answer: God of Death

A cutscene can be seen while on a mission with Oceana. It's Thanatos and two other great white sharks... at night. You find out very quickly that the pulsar has absolutely no affect on him. It's difficult to get the information on him because when you get near him he'll attack you. "It is seen as the embodiment of evil and violence" reads the description under Thanatos' name.
5. In the mission "Find the Blue Bird," you must seek a mysterious bird. Which location do you need to find it "When curtains cover the sky?"

Answer: North Coast of Canada

A woman named Tisera asks you to find all of the landing spots of the elusive little blue bird. Doing this quest takes you all over the world where you must search on land at most of the available locations. While discovering the bird at Weddell Sea, you overhear the words "When curtains cover the sky...in the frozen north..." and must deduce that the bird will next be at the North Coast of Canada in the Arctic Ocean. To see it, you must wait until you get a message saying that the aurora should be visible that night. If you dive at night when the beautiful aurora is shining (like a curtain over the sky), you'll catch a glimpse of the blue bird.
6. Sharks come out a lot at night! Pay attention to this one. Which of these sharks is not active only during the night?

Answer: Cloudy catshark

Whitetip reef sharks are only active at night; they sleep during the day. Sand tiger sharks are also only out at night. They have a fearsome appearance but they won't attack you. The large basking shark circles the map at night as well and a mission asks you to get a picture of one.

The cloudy catshark is active both day and night. Incidentally, all of these sharks can be found in Ciceros Strait.
7. This creature is originally found only at night in the depths and is actually not one creature but several all together. What animal is this?

Answer: Giant siphonophore

The giant siphonophore is found in the Zahhab Depths in the Southern Crevasse. It is first found at night, but after you are introduced to it, you can see it day or night. Again, it's not one creature but a huge amount of small organisms that work together.

The oarfish is in the depths as well but isn't strictly at night. Hydromyles globulosa and Mertensia ovum are small cold-weather critters.
8. How do you earn the title "Nocturnal Submarine?"

Answer: Dive at night 10 times

There are 155 titles to earn while playing. Some of it comes naturally, like getting a higher diving level, and others you must target specifically. If you dive at night 10 times, you can earn the title "Nocturnal Submarine." You can naturally earn it by repeatedly diving at night while trying to find the Spartan Treasure with GG.
9. Which "ghostly" Legendary creature can only be found at night?

Answer: Phantom

There's a mission called "Ghost of Valka Castle." Rumors say that there is a ghost that comes out only at night in the Valka Castle. You must wait until the evening before you attempt to find this legendary creature. If you take Oceana with you and go into the Mermaid's Ballroom, you'll find "Phantom," a black manta ray that people thought was a ghost!
10. Sometimes, the animals that are seen at night in certain areas replace those only seen during the day. Which of these combinations is wrong?

Answer: Goblin shark replaces coelacanth

All of these are correct except for the goblin shark replacing the coelacanths. The goblin shark does show up at night, but the coelacanth remains; you will see the sharks swimming amongst them. The ocean sunfish replaces the oarfish at night in the Zahhab Depths. On land, the leatherback turtle is seen in Gatama Atoll at G-8 and it replaces the pelago crocodile that is seen during the daytime. And finally, when you first meet the Black Harbinger, it's at the Spring Garden in Gatama Atoll instead of the humpback whale.
