Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When you complete the prologue, you'll need to find your way to the Spirit Tree in what location?

Answer: Hollow Grove

Navigating Ori to the Hollow Grove may prove a bit tough if you're visiting the Blind Forest for the first time as it involves finding your way through the Sunken Glades first, and with minimal skills at your disposal, it can prove to be a bit challenging. That said, by the time you make your way to where you need to be, you'll have obtained the Wall Jump, a necessary skill, especially in the early game, and it will get you to where you need to be.

The Spirit Tree is, of course, the source of light and life in the forest. While the ancient one won't have anything tangible to give Ori from the outset, it will point the way to the three elements of balance needed to complete the quest.
2. Who steals the Water Vein, taking it to the Moon Grotto?

Answer: Gumo

Heading into the Spider Coves you'll undoubtedly locate the spirit in possession of the Charge Flame, and with this you can head onward to the Ginso Tree, the site of the Element of Water. Upon reaching the right spot, however, Ori will encounter the corrupted Gumo, who will steal away with a Water Vein and descend into the dangerous Moon Grotto with it.

There's no progressing without it, so it's up to you to brave the unstoppable laser blasts and crushing stones and reclaim it to head onward.
3. The Water Vein, needed to access the Ginso Tree, must be inserted back into its spot in what region?

Answer: Thornfelt Swamp

The journey to find the Water Vein will drop Ori into the treacherous caves known as Gumo's Hideout (in the Moon Grotto), and to get out you have to find an Ancestral Tree containing the light powers for Double Jump (you can get Triple Jump with enough Ability Points!).

The Double Jump skill will allow Ori to climb back up out of the grotto and help Gumo who, when he's freed from under a boulder, will hand over the gemstone and help instead of hinder the hero. You can then return to Thornfelt, put the Water Vein into the entry of the Ginso Tree, and enter.
4. What skill does Ori obtain in the Ginso Tree?

Answer: Bash

The Ginso Tree is the first dungeon to enter in the game, and when you do you can collect the Bash attack that will allow Ori to ascend to the top and rid the tree of the corruption blocking off the Element of Water. Once the Heart of the Ginso Tree is rid of its poison and decay, the blight will be removed and water will rush in, forcing Ori to escape out the top.

Unfortunately, Kuro will be there, waiting, and Ori will need to make a daring escape by leaping down to the ground. He'll survive, only to be saved by Gumo.
5. Which of these will allow Ori to glide on wind currents?

Answer: Feather

Finishing the Ginso Tree and escaping the Thornfelt Swamp, Ori will need to head west to the Valley of the Winds. En route, you can find an Ancestral Tree bearing the Stomp skill, but the major addition to the arsenal will be Kuro's Feather, which you can only obtain if you manage to stop the giant foe from standing guard in the canyons of the windy valley.

The way to do this is by dropping boulders from above, and when Kuro is subdued, one of his feathers will break free and fall to the ground.

It'll allow Ori to navigate new areas both across large gaps and blocked by extreme winds (of which there are a lot in this region).
6. Which of these will bring order back to the Misty Ruins?

Answer: Atsu's Torch

After claiming Kuro's Feather, you can keep heading west until you hit the wall of mist covering the aptly-named Misty Ruins. This region of the map is confusing, even with a map, because navigation can be marred by the constantly-shifting environment.

The goal here is to collect Atsu's Torch and to return it to the Shrouded Lantern near the start of the area. If this is done, then the Gumon Seal can be revealed and the Ruins will revert back to their normal orientation for easier navigation.
7. The Forlorn Ruins requires the use of which of these to be navigated?

Answer: Light vessels

Once the Gumon Seal is obtained, Ori can head down in to the icy Forlorn Ruins, the former home of the technologically-advanced Gumon race, to find that most of the past residents were frozen there when the region lost its light. To get through the ruins, you have to use light vessels to protect Ori from hot surfaces (Gumon structures).

When you eventually make your way to the main chamber, Gumo will appear and spark an escape sequence that will force you to the top of the building (once again) to find Kuro's nest...and the egg kept there.

As Ori will discover, Kuro's babies perished in the Spirit Tree's light, and she's protecting her last child.
8. To get into Mount Horu, Ori needs to ascend to the top of Sorrow Pass to get which of these?

Answer: Sunstone

With Kuro's Feather and more abilities attained, the next destination (following the Forlorn Ruins) is up further than ever before; you need to head up to Sorrow Pass above the Valley of the wind to collect the Sunstone on the top of Nibel. The Sunstone still radiates the light that Kuro fears and allows entry into the game's final dungeon, Mount Horu, an active volcano that is dangerously close to spewing fire.
Meanwhile, in Swallow's Nest, Gumo uses his peoples' technology to revive Naru, and both set out in search of Ori.
9. How many passages need to be blocked in Mount Horu to gain access to its depths?

Answer: Eight

It's off to the Hollow Grove to gain entry to Mount Horu as soon as the Sunstone is in Ori's hands, and it's there that the final element, Nibel's source of warmth, must be collected. All the while, Naru and Gumo head into the heat of the volcano searching for Ori as well, pressing on to reach Naru's surrogate child.
In Mount Horu, the aim is to ascend to the top and stop the lava floes at different tiers of the dungeon (using Sein's light and different mechanisms). In the ninth room, at the bottom of the volcano, Ori can collect and save the Element of Warmth...just as Kuro arrives.
10. Does Ori survive the final fight with Kuro?

Answer: Yes

After Ori collects the Element of Warmth, Kuro will arrive for one final attack, forcing a swift and dangerous escape from Mount Horu that uses every skill attained in the game. As Ori is shot free out the side of the volcano, Sein will try to leave, calling out to the Spirit Tree for help as the forest burns. Only Naru is able to reach Ori in time, embracing him while Kuro watches.

It's then that Kuro, recognizing Naru's love for her child, realizes that her last egg is in danger of the fire that she's brought on the land, and she takes the opportunity to return the light to the Spirit Tree, sacrificing herself to save the forest, inspired by love.

The forest is returned to its lush safety as Ori, Naru, Gumo, and Nein remain in Swallow's Nest with Kuro's egg...as it begins to hatch.
