Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where did Wilco's escape pod end up?

Answer: on a garbage scow

In "Space Quest II", Wilco launched himself from Vohaul's burning asteroid fortress just in time. However, his troubles weren't over yet. The pod from which he escaped had low oxygen. Wilco climbed inside a sleep chamber. Over an undetermined amount of time, Wilco's pod was picked up by a robot controlled garbage scow. When the pod entered the freighter, it was set down with a thud which caused the pod's "Revive Mode" to be enabled. Wilco awoke, left the pod, and started to find his way off the freighter in another mode of transportation.
2. What was the name of Wilco's ship that he foundhe and repaired?

Answer: Aluminum Mallard

As Wilco explored this trash heap, he found the Aluminum Mallard. This was his way off but he had to find things to get it going again. He found a warp motivator, wire, and reactor. A rat that was on board stole the reactor and wire from Wilco, but Wilco was determined to not let a rat get to him. He got it back and wired up his new found ship. He then fired his weapons at the side of the freighter. This action caused the sudden change in pressure to suck him out of the freighter. Wilco was free in space again.
3. What was the name of the purplish, sandy planet?

Answer: Phleebhut

As Wilco was scanning the galaxy map for a place to go, he found a purplish planet called Phleebhut. Phleebhut was mainly another desert planet. (Remember the planet Korona in "Space Quest I"). Like all of our hero's adventures, this planet had a few dangers in it, too. If he traveled too far south, a snake would eat him up. Occasionally, a scorpion would be in the screen and bite him and kill him.

He was startled, at first, to see a monster on the horizon. On further inspection, he found it was the World O'Wonders store and attraction.

The monster's head was actually an observation deck but was closed for repairs at the time. There was also a dangerous lightning storm on the horizon.
4. Someone had followed Wilco to this planet. Who was it?

Answer: Arnoid the Annihilator

Before Wilco entered the planet of Phleebhut, another ship decloaked. This was Arnoid the Annihilator. Arnoid is a bill collector and Wilco owed him money. It was for the Labian Terror Beast whistle which he had gotten in "Space Quest II". Arnoid followed him to Phleebhut and, using his cloaking belt, approached Wilco outside of World O'Wonders. He explained that he had better pay up. He also gave Wilco a chance to get a head start on him and that he might be generous enough to let him pass if Wilco got back to his ship before Arnoid did.
5. At the World O'Wonders attraction, how much did Wilco get for the gem from "Space Quest II"?

Answer: $450

Wilco entered the World O'Wonders store and was met by the store owner named Fester. Fester was a jolly alien but was a hard driving businessman. Since Wilco had no buckazoids left, he offered the now useless gem which he had gotten in "Space Quest II". After several offers, Fester offered him $450 buckazoids for the gem. From this money, Wilco purchased a grabbing device, an official Astro Chicken hat, and thermal underwear.
6. Can Wilco make it to his ship before the robot gets him?

Answer: No

Even though Arnoid gave him a chance, he was too fast for Wilco to trudge back to his ship in time. Wilco, instead, ran into the entrance for the observation deck and waited for him there. When Arnoid came close to him, Wilco pushed a hook at him which hit Arnoid in the gearing mechanism for the monster's arms. These gears broke Arnoid up into several pieces on the lower level. Even though Wilco saved himself, Fester was angry at this and threw him out of the area. Before leaving, though, Wilco did pick up something from Arnoid which was later helpful in his mission.
7. After Wilco destroyed the robot, what item did he get from him?

Answer: cloaking belt

After Wilco destroyed Arnoid the Annihilator, he grabbed Arnoid's cloaking belt. This was going to be helpful later on when he snuck onto Pestulon and the ScumSoft complex. Wilco figured if Arnoid could sneak around without being seen, then Wilco should be able to do the same.
8. Can Wilco get struck by lightning on this planet?

Answer: Yes

If Wilco walked too far north (top of the screen), he ran the risk of getting struck by lightning. The lightning was fierce on this planet and could strike at anytime. This was one of a few dangers to this planet that Wilco had to try and avoid.
9. When Wilco approached the Monolith Burger, a famous ship was taking off. What ship was it?

Answer: Enterprise

After leaving the planet of Phleebhut, he noticed on the map a Monolith Burger. The Monolith Burger was a space version of McDonald's. Wilco hadn't had a decent meal for awhile other than eating ferns, berries, or anything else resembling food so he decided to stop in for a good meal. As he approached, the Starship Enterprise was getting ready to go to warp. This was one of the "Easter eggs" found in the game. Another one for the Monolith Burger was the presence of an alien inside resembling Jabba the Hut from "Star Wars".
10. Which statement is false about what happened to Wilco when he entered the wrong airlock at the Monolith Burger

Answer: he was accused of the charge of grand spaceship larceny

In the left airlock, Wilco noticed a nicer ship that he wanted to look at. However, the owner of it wasn't too friendly. He warned Wilco to get out of his airlock before tossing him on his rear end back inside the Monolith Burger. Wilco then tried to enter again and this time, there was no three strikes. The alien shot and killed him.
11. What was hidden in the "Astro Chicken" game found at the Monolith Burger?

Answer: distress message

Wilco ordered his food and found a decoder ring in his burger. He decided to try his luck at the newest arcade game called "Astro Chicken". After awhile, a coded message popped up on the screen. It read "Help us! We are being held captive by ScumSoft on the small moon of Pestulon. An impenetrable force field surrounds the moon. It must first be deactivated. Its origin is unknown to us. ScumSoft security is armed with jello pistols. We're counting on you whoever you are. Two Guys in Trouble."
12. What was the name of the volcanic planet?

Answer: Ortega

After Wilco was finished at the Monolith Burger, he took off again for another planet. This planet was uninhabitable because it was volcanic and very rocky. He found several pieces of what looked like surveying equipment along with a box of detonators.
13. Wilco bought an item to help him out on this planet. What was the item that Wilco bought at World O'Wonders?

Answer: thermal underwear

Wilco was glad for the thermal underwear that he bought on the planet Phleebhut. Fester said it was to keep him cool on the planet of Ortega. Ortega was so hot that if Wilco forgot to put on his thermal underwear, he would melt immediately after he exited the Aluminum Mallard. However, if he had fallen into the rivers of lava, the underwear was useless.
14. What did Wilco use to disable the force field or cloaking device surrounding the moon of this planet?

Answer: detonator

Like anything else Wilco picked up in his adventures, everything had a use. He picked up a detonator and threw it into the chamber which housed the cloaking device for the moon of Pestulon. However, the subsequent explosion caused earthquakes on Ortega which made it difficult to stick around any longer.

Besides, he was done here. The bridge which was loose before has collapsed and now Wilco had to pole vault over it. One thing Wilco didn't want to do before trying this Olympic feat was grab another detonator.

After he landed on the other side, the detonator would go off and he would explode into thin air. He lost the pole but he had no more use for it anyhow.
15. What was the name of the moon that orbited the volcanic planet?

Answer: Pestulon

The moon that orbited Ortega was called Pestulon. Pestulon was where the ScumSoft complex was and was where the two guys who left the message in the "Astro Chicken" game. Wilco saw it on his map and headed for it.
