Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Twilight Princess," Midna is a supporting character like no other. Going beyond being just informative help, she's quite a force in battle. Which major character does she physically kill in "Twilight Princess?"

Answer: Zant

After Link battles Zant in the Twilight Realm, she uses the Fused Shadows to physically destroy him. She notes that she only used a portion of the artifact's strength.

She also uses the Fused Shadows to purify Zelda and fight Ganon, though she loses to Ganon. Altogether, it's no wonder why she's a favorite in the series given all that she has done.
2. In "Twilight Princess," this character teaches Link swordsmanship, while also being the creator of Link's Ordon Sword. He's also discovered to be part of the Resistance. Who is he?

Answer: Rusl

Rusl is definitely a father-type, and is protective of his village and children. He adamantly defends his family from any approach of Wolf Link after the kidnapping incident. He's shown later to be in the Resistance, and later Link is helped by him to arrive at the Lost Woods.

When Link reaches Hyrule Castle to confront Ganondorf, Rusl is shown to know falconry.
3. In "Twilight Princess," Ashei is quite the female combatant. She was taught the methods of war in her upbringing, and grew up in a harsh natural environment. But through her experiences, she's able to traverse even harsher environments. In the game, she studies a certain area and eventually aids Link in entering it. Which area is it?

Answer: Snowpeak Mountain

She shows Link a sketch of Yeto with a fish, which eventually enables him to enter the Snowpeak Mountain (she herself only stays at the entrance since it's too dangerous).

She later is seen when Link enters Hyrule Castle and there she shoots down bokoblins with arrows.
4. In "Ocarina of Time," which capable warrior in Hyrule initially sealed Bongo Bongo beneath the well?

Answer: Impa

She was the one who sealed Bongo Bongo beneath the well until it escaped in the events during "Ocarina of Time". Given the strength and size of Bongo Bongo, this means Impa is quite strong herself.

However, after Link goes to the Shadow Temple, he defeats Bongo Bongo. It's unknown what Impa managed to do (or even if she survived), given she still tried to reseal him in the Shadow Temple.
5. In "The Wind Waker," Orca is noted to be a master swordsman, but he and his brother never once mastered a certain technique. He'll teach Link this technique if Link brings him 10 Knight Crests. What technique is it?

Answer: The Hurricane Spin

When Link tries this technique on Orca, it overwhelms him physically, which is notable since Orca is usually able to convincingly defend Link's attacks. This is demonstrative of the power of this technique (even though the motion looks very simple to the player).

Orca then cries for joy when he sees Link master the technique.
6. In "Oracle of Ages," Link has a rival swordsman named Ralph who often looks down on Link's abilities and role. However, he is mostly rude to Link in the beginning, due to overconfidence in himself and an undying desire to protect someone. Who does he want to protect so badly?

Answer: Nayru

Ralph had always been protecting Nayru since they were kids, so it's easy to assume that he's gotten used to the role of protecting her to the point where he thinks that no other person's help is needed.

But later, he does see his need for Link's help. Nevertheless, his loyalty to Nayru is still unyielding in the end, as he even risks sacrificing himself for Nayru.
7. In "Spirit Tracks", there is a recurring character from the Lokomo race who plays an increasingly important role in the game. This character easily defeats Alfonso and even comes to Link and Zelda's rescue in the fight against Malladus. Who is it?

Answer: Byrne

No, it's inadvisable to leave this one to Alfonso, since Byrne's quite the powerhouse. He has fast movements that were too much for Alfonso. In Byrne's fight against Link, he shows magical prowess as well as the ability to shoot his mechanical arm.

Byrne's character in the series is unique. He's rare in the sense that he's an enemy that you actually fight that comes to your side in the end.
8. One "Zelda" villain is notable for possessing people for combat and strategic purposes. This enemy has possessed the Oracle Nayru, Queen Ambi, and even Impa. Who is it?

Answer: Veran

Veran is quite a nuisance to the protagonists in "Oracle of Ages" since she can possess other protagonists.

However, though Link manages to dispel her every time, her possessions do push the protagonists into making pivotal decisions that give some character exposition. An example of this was, as mentioned before, Ralph who still tried to kill Queen Ambi (possessed by Veran), knowing it might kill him.
9. Ghirahim is another character with a multitude of abilities. Yet, one ability he has is unique which, prior to "Skyward Sword", had never been encountered in the series. Which one of these is it?

Answer: Disarming and using Link's sword

When fighting Ghirahim in the first temple of "Skyward Sword," he will grab your sword, if you don't slash the right way. Then if you don't struggle out, he'll use your sword against you (but he will throw later, giving Link the chance to recover it). This being one of Ghirahim's unique abilities challenges the game's emphasis on sword usage, making him an interesting challenge to overcome.

Ghirahim isn't ever invulnerable against Link's sword; he always has a weak area/point as most enemies do. Warping is common among many enemies such as bosses. An example is Zant in "Twilight Princess". Regarding sword beams, Demise in "Skyward Sword" can also use sword beams.
10. In "A Link Between Worlds," there's a character who is able to be battled after Link has obtained all Challenge Medals. He is possibly the the strongest opponent in the game (difficulty-wise), as he knows the Great Spin, possesses magic potions, and has an upgraded arsenal of all of Link's weapons. Who is he?

Answer: Gramps

Gramps is tough; he essentially resembles a fully upgraded Link. He's also smarter than most enemies in combat as he actually defends himself quite adequately and has fast reflexes.

All this leads some players to think that he might be the Link from "A Link to the Past," which seems logical. However, as with much of the lore of the series, it's never confirmed nor expanded upon, but rather left to speculation.
