Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Once you have the Dungeon Map, dungeon traveling becomes much easier. Which dungeon requires you to enter rooms NOT on the map?

Answer: Face Shrine

The stone slab hints at this with the strange riddle: "enter the space where the eyes have walls". If you look at the map, the rooms make up a face (hence the name "Face Shrine"). The "eyes" of the face are invisible rooms. Utilizing these invisible rooms, you'll find access to the L2 Power Bracelet.
2. "Fill all the holes with the rock that rolls". This is part of the stone slab message to one of the dungeons. Which dungeon does this riddle belong to?

Answer: Turtle Rock

Within Turtle Rock are special rocks that can be pushed and then controlled with the directional pad. Using this rock, you must fill in all the holes. This either gives you a new path or a new item, depending on the map you're doing it in.
3. In one dungeon, you must fight the sub-boss four times. What is the key to determining the order of the rooms he'll appear in?

Answer: The number of blocks

In the first room you meet the sub-boss, there is one block in the room. There are other identical rooms throughout the dungeon. One has two blocks, one has three, and one has four. Finding the sub-boss's next location is as easy as memorizing a spot on the map.
4. The top floor of Eagle's Tower seems to be completely inaccessible. Rather than trying to find a way to get to the top floor, you should bring the top floor to you! Do this by destroying several pillars throughout the level. What object is crucial to making these pillars fall?

Answer: A steel ball

Using the Power Bracelet, a steel ball, and some clever tricks, you can knock down the pillars around the level that will cause the top floor to crash into the one below it - thus making the Nightmare accessible. Until the pillars are destroyed, there is no way to complete the dungeon.
5. The Nightmare at the Eagle's Tower has one attack that will probably cause more grief than harm. If the Evil Eagle blows you off of the battlefield, what happens?

Answer: You have to start the fight over

If you fail to use your shield to block the wind, Link will go flying off the battlefield and land on the level below. Unfortunately, this means that all damage the Nightmare received before you fell is now gone. I'm not sure how the Nightmare heals itself, but it can be a pain.
6. One cheat-like trick that players can use to bypass obstacles involves hitting the Select button (thus bringing up the Map) at the same moment the player moves from one room to another. What happens when you do this?

Answer: Link appears on the opposite end of the map

If entering from the right, Link appears on the left side of the room, in the exact spot at which he left the previous one. This can cause interesting graphic errors, however, if you enter rooms that are not supposed to exist through this method. Additionally, it's best to scout where you're going to end up BEFORE you go, or Link could end up trapped on top of an immovable object.
7. The mysterious guardian of Koholint, the Wind Fish, has a name as deceptive as the island. What Earth species does the Wind Fish resemble?

Answer: Whale

The Wind Fish resembles a blue whale (albeit with wings), which is actually a mammal. Still, "Wind Mammal" doesn't quite have the same ring to it as "Wind Fish".
8. The goat in Animal Village has a long-distance relationship with Mr. Write in the Mysterious Woods. During the exchange quest, Link must deliver a letter to Mr. Write from the goat. Enclosed is a supposed picture of the goat. Which Nintendo character is the photo really of?

Answer: Princess Peach

While "Link's Awakening" doesn't take place in any of the previously-known worlds of Nintendo games, there are numerous cameos from other games. Mr. Write himself is a cameo of a character from "Sim City".
9. When using a Magic Powder on the electrifying Buzzblob enemies, they transform into odd-looking Cukemen. Which of these enigmatic phrases does the now-friendly creature NOT say?

Answer: "Hey man!"

In the German version of the name, the Cukeman's phrases were much more suggestive. Cukemen also appear in "A Link to the Past" and the two "Oracle" games. In all game appearances, phrases said by the Cukemen often seem to be taken out of context and make no sense.
10. In the dusty Yarna Desert, the sub-boss Yanmola conceals a secret in his pit. Who or what spills the beans about this cleverly-hidden Heart Piece?

Answer: A skeleton

By sprinkling some Magic Powder on a skeleton in the corner of Yarna Desert, it will gratefully inform you of the usefulness of bombs in "a place where the sand swallows you" - which happens to be under the shifting sands of the arena wherein you fight Yanmola. By falling through the sand and bombing the northern wall, you reveal a hidden room containing a valuable Heart Piece.
