Koji Igarashi was the assistant director of the game and is credited with updating the tried-and-true "Castlevania" series format by adding RPG features, like the ability to level up. "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night" features an inverted castle and shows the character Richter Belmont from "Castlevania: Dracula X." Trevor Belmont is the main character in "Castlevania III," Soma Cruz is the focus of both "Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow" and "Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow" and Jonathan Morris appears in "Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin."
