Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first chapter of the game is set in which European city?

Answer: London

This third game in the series begins in London, England. Drake and Sully both head to a city pub to speak to Mr. Talbot, attempting to trade Sir Francis Drake's ring (strung around Drake's neck) for a large sum of cash. When the money is determined to be counterfeit, a brawl breaks out and Nathan and Sully try to escape out into an alleyway.

Unfortunately, they end up coming face to face with Cutter and Katherine Marlowe, a woman from Sully's past. Marlowe takes the ring and Cutter shoots both Nathan and Sully in the chest as Katherine and her thugs drive off.
2. Sully and Kate Marlowe have always been enemies.

Answer: False

Twenty years earlier in Cartagena, Colombia, Nathan Drake met Sully at the Museo Martimo while looking into old artifacts related to his ancestor, Sir Francis Drake. The museum had an exhibit about the famous pirate at the time and of particular note were a ring and cipher disc. Drake discovered a suspicious Sully getting a key impression (and later cut) for a display case and later stole it from his wallet.

After infiltrating the museum after hours, he was caught by Sully and Kate Marlowe (who, at the time, were working together) but, with Sully's help he managed to evade capture with the ring in his possession. Sully decided to take Nathan under his wing from that day on and the two vowed that someday they would be able to retrieve the cipher from Marlowe and track down the possible treasures Drake had hidden during a six month period of his voyage.
3. Using the cipher, Drake ultimately comes across the word LONGHIDDEN, an anagram for what famous Spanish galleon?

Answer: Golden Hind

As it turns out, Cutter is working with Nate and Sully; he shot them with blanks and they used squibs to mimic real wounds. Nate has the real ring hidden away. They rendezvous with Chloe and find the underground entrance to Marlowe's Tudor-inspired bunker, filled to the brim with artifacts and trinkets.

When she can't open the cipher using Drake's forged ring, she heads out, giving the trio an opportunity to explore a bit. Drake ultimately discovers a connection using the cipher's code (the word LONGHIDDEN, an anagram for Golden Hind, Drake's ship), T.E. Lawrence's journal, and a map hidden behind a mounted deer head, and draws his conclusion to the Atlantis of the Sands in the Rub' al Khali Desert.

While Chloe and Cutter are sent to Syria to wait for further instructions, Drake and Sully head to a chateau in Eastern France, following the journal to their next clue to amazing riches.
4. What happens to the chateau Drake visits in France?

Answer: It burns to the ground

When Drake and Sully head to Eastern Europe they end up searching through what seems to be France's only jungle to find a ruined chateau, the home of the secrets they must uncover. Of course, such a search wouldn't be a search without Talbot's men arriving.

After fighting through the mob, they'll find one man who seems long-dead resting outside an alchemist's lab. This lab turns out to have belonged to Queen Elizabeth's adviser, John Dee, the same man who made Drake's map. They find a secret tunnel hidden under his table and delve deeper underground.

They find half an artifact leading to an ancient city, but it's taken by Talbot, one step behind them. Fortunately, their escape is aided (and then hindered) by some rogue spiders. Although Drake and Sully are able to escape the tunnels, things go from bad to worse when Talbot sets the chateau on fire and burns it to the ground.

The heroes narrowly escape.
5. Of the four characters who visit the Citadel in Syria, how many continue on to Yemen?

Answer: Two

Nate and Sully leave France and arrive in Syria less than a day later, eager to warn Chloe and Cutter. To do this, they infiltrate the citadel, finding them deeper inside. They discover that Katherine Marlowe's true past hints at her being part of a secret order dedicated to finding the hidden city in the desert.

After a short scavenger hunt along the parapets (not to mention missile blasts), they end up finding the entrance they need, but Talbot attacks Cutter with a mind-control dart and steals T.E. Lawrence's journal in the process.

When the quartet descends into a secret passage, he ends up attacking and trying to kill Nate before he snaps out of it. They find the entrance to the inner crypts, but not before encountering more spiders.

When they find the other half of the amulet inside they make a quick escape right into the arms of Talbot and his men. They escape, at least for a moment, but Cutter gets trapped on a tower with Katherine Marlowe who, in an act of revenge, sets the place ablaze and takes the amulet piece.

The four make their escape, but not before Charlie makes a daring leap, breaking his leg but saving his life. They flee in a tour bus. Chloe says that perhaps this one is going too far.
6. After getting drugged and captured in Yemen, Drake is taken captive in which locale?

Answer: A ship graveyard

Nate calls Elena and heads to Yemen with Sully. Acting under a guise as journalists researching the history of the city, they head to the Old Quarter and end up stealing the journal back from Talbot. In their escape they end up coming upon their next destination, a hidden cistern, and Nate is force to tell Elena everything. Following their path underground they open up an ancient temple and, solving puzzles en route, they locate a celestial map containing the site of the lost city.

They hypothesize that Sir Francis Drake, at that point, must've turned around and sailed home; Nate is undeterred.

When they surface, Nate is drugged by Talbot and, while Sully and Elena escape, he goes on a trip around the city, ultimately coming to in front of Talbot and Marlowe who now has his ring. Nate escapes to chase Talbot through the streets but gets knocked out and taken away by Rameses, a Yemeni pirate looking for info about the Iram. Now stowed away in a ship graveyard off the coast, Drake has to navigate his way to a working ship and back to shore.

It never ends, does it?
7. Does Elena accompany Drake as he heads into the Rub 'Al Khali Desert?

Answer: No

The difficulties continue to emerge when Nathan jumps aboard the Seaward as it pulls out of the ship graveyard. Searching for Sully he ends up infiltrating into the deepest hold of the ship to find that Rameses has, in fact, lied (he is a pirate after all). Drake shoots his way out as the ship sinks.

He plummets into the ocean and hangs on for dear life. Ultimately he washes up on shore somewhere in the Middle East, ending up in Elena's room after tracking her down. Surprisingly, as Elena says, Sully actually has been captured by Marlowe and is somewhere in the Rub 'Al Khali Desert, two days in on a convoy. To have a one in a million chance, the two of them sneak into an airfield and Drake narrowly makes it onto a supply plane flying over.

Although he sneaks in via the landing gear as the plane is taking off, he's found quite quickly after and a fight ensues. What results is an against-the-odds climb back into the plane as he's pushed out the cargo bay followed by a hole being blown in the side of the craft.

The plane goes down in the Rub 'Al Khali's forbidding sands and Drake is the only survivor.
8. According to Salim of the Bedouins, what is contained in the city of Ubar?

Answer: Djinn

Drake spends several days wandering through the Rub 'Al Khali until finally he comes across an ancient settlement. Unfortunately, Marlowe's men are already there, scouting out the crash. When Drake is cornered, he's saved by a group of Bedouins; the leader, Salim, saves him at the last moment and they flee into the desert to a camp.

Here, Salim explains that the power of the Djinn rests in Ubar. It's a cursed place of evil, and going there will unleash it. The next day they head to the canyons to cut off the convoy, save Sully, and stop Marlowe. Unfortunately they encounter a storm upon reaching the gates of the hidden city. Finally though, Drake and Sully reach the Atlantis of the Sands. Heading inside, Drake takes a much needed drink of water from a found in fountain fed by an unseen spring.

When he drinks it, however, Sully gets shot by Talbot and Marlowe before they descend into the city. Soon, Drake is fighting her man who, at the same time, have the powers of fire. Upon being pulled into a reflecting pool by his own reflection, Drake awakens from the hallucination, ultimately reuniting with Sully (who wasn't really shot) and they discover that Marlowe is definitely after whatever fear-inducing agent is in the waters of the city.

The goal? To get the brass container supposedly containing the Djinn before she does.
9. During the destruction of the Atlantis of the Sands, Drake and Sully's escape is interrupted by a final battle with which character?

Answer: Talbot

Finally reaching the pool containing the brass container, Sully is knocked out and pushed in by Talbot. Drake has no choice but to dive in to save him, but while underwater he shoots the winch dragging it up and then shoots a supporting structure. The resulting destruction is enough to trigger the collapse of the city.

They flee the chaos only to run into Marlowe and Talbot but, due to the crumbling structure, Marlowe falls into a sinkhole and gets sucked under with Drake's ring still in her possession.

As Drake and Sully escape, Talbot takes his final stand, fighting Drake one-on-one with his knife. Finally, as Talbot tries to take a final blow at Sully, Drake is able to finish him off with a well-aimed few shots. With Salim's help, they're able to escape as the Iram of the Pillars sinks into the desert sands. Drake and Sully return to Yemen and, discussing life with his apprentice, Sully hands him back an important ring which he dons before reuniting with Elena.

The three happily head off in Sully's new sea-plane, a replacement for the one they destroyed back in Peru.
10. How many treasures can be found in "Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception"?

Answer: 101

Similar to "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves", the game does contain one hundred regular treasures, each themed around their respective hiding spots (ie. Ancient Chupicuaro Figure in Colombia, Louis XVI Louis d'or Coin in France, Antique Silver Parrot in the pirate graveyard, etc.).

In addition to these hundred trinkets, Drake can also find one more, a Strange Relic, which looks a lot like the Precursor Orb from "Jak and Daxter". It's found in Chapter 15; it gives a trophy for locating. Trophies are given to the player for every multiple of twenty treasures found, so there are five trophies in total.
