The Gate Room is the first major part of the game. When you exit the prison-like cage in the beginning of the game, head up the stairs and to the left to find the Gate Room. At this point, there will be a steel grating blocking you from entering it. Luckily, there is a switch outside the main door that will spin the room 72 degrees clockwise when pressed. If you manage to position it correctly and crawl under a door outside another part of the room, you can possibly press enough buttons to spin the room to its proper position and open the door to the Golden Dome.

Answer: Atrus

Like in "Myst", Atrus has been trapped in a prison. In this game, you must save Catherine from her prison in Gehn's realms. To do this, you need to find help along the way and solve the puzzles of "Riven". You'll also need to find a way to the Moiety Age. Prison Island, where Catherine is held, is the final island you'll arrive on in the game.

Answer: By tram

The tram station on Temple Island is located outside the main chamber of the temple. Press the blue button to call the tram, then you can ride the winding track to the other side. On Jungle Island, you can also find the submarine, but it's used to navigate the waters of the village. There is also a way to transport yourself between Crater Island and Jungle Island.

Answer: Wahrks

As it turns out, the caged seat in the other room is where one would sit if they were to talk to someone in the temple. The image provided by a camera in that room would project itself into the cage in the temple's main room and make the user seem more powerful. The creatures next to the cage are wahrks, which can't really be found that often in this game.

Answer: Five

Each wooden eyeball has a trademark sound that resembles a noise created by one of the creatures throughout the islands. Each eyeball will also include an odd symbol (which turns out to be a number). These numbers will later help you access the books to Gehn's Age in the Fire Marble Domes. The animals involved with these are also important for you to access the Moiety Age.

Answer: Frog

Although the frog catching thing isn't necessary for completion of the game, it's still a neat trick. Simply raise the trap, place a pellet on it, and lower it. When it clangs shut, you can raise it and a frog will emerge. This small area is located near the Fire Marble Dome in Gehn's laboratory on Crater Island.

Answer: Crater Island

On Plateau Island, an elevator will take you to the grand chamber underwater where you can use the colour wheel. On Temple Island, there is a small elevator on one side of the Giant Golden Dome that leads to the Fire Marble Dome of the Island. Thirdly, on Jungle Island, there is an elevator inside the large wahrk statue in the jungle area. Once again, it leads you to the Fire Marble Dome, but you also need to use it to enter the chamber above the village.

Answer: Twenty-five

To reach this part of Jungle Island, you need to take the submarine to the large object in the village lake and ride up to the top. Open the drain and pull the ring to open the door to the secret room. Remember to turn on the lights in the caves by clicking on them. Once you're in the center of the circle, you'll need to click on five stones in the proper order. First hit the delta-shaped fish, then the beetle, frog, sunner, and wahrk.

After this, click the book in the wall and enter the Moiety Age, where you will promptly be shot with a tranquilizer.

Answer: Jungle Island

After you exit the tram from Temple Island, take the path up the stairs in the caves and go left. If you go slowly, you'll see two Sunners on rocks by the sea. Only move ahead once if they lower their heads and you should be able to stand right next to them before they swim away. Sunners can also be found while you use the colour wheel in the underwater chamber on Plateau Island.

Answer: Three

First, you can get the proper ending by freeing Catherine from her prison and trapping Gehn in the Trap Book. After this, Atrus will let you go back to your own world. If you fail to trap Gehn, both you and Atrus will be killed. If you don't free Catherine and Gehn is not trapped, then Atrus will leave you as the world of "Riven" collapses around you.
