Answer: They contain the Union Jack

The Union Jack flag is depicted on the upper hoist-side quadrant of all four flags. The flags of Montserrat, Saint Helena and Turks & Caicos all have a dark blue background, however, Tuvalu has a light blue background. All except Tuvalu contain their coat of arms.

The Algerian flag has a red crescent and star; the Mauritania flag has a gold crescent and star and the flag of Libya has a white crescent and star. The Maldives only has a white crescent.
