Depends on the category. In VG I wouldn't hesitate to make a subcategory at 2, for instance. Reply #161. Jun 02 19, 2:17 PM |

In Music we used to go with three, and then moved to two - there were lots of good quizzes on well known artists that were just not getting much play without a category. Reply #163. Jun 02 19, 5:57 PM |

I would like to claim Contract #47 - Write a 15 question quiz about men (and women) in space. Mercury 7 and Gemini should have at least one question each http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/History/Men-on-a-Mission-397859.html New contract: Write a Sci/Tech quiz about one specific Moon in the Solar System, but it can not be the Earth's moon. Um, sorry 1nn1, I don't think your CW does meet the criteria. The clues are single words not the answers. Caveats are allowed. The CW from your link has some clues with well over 5 words. Contract #52 - 5 points: Construct a fully symmetrical CW, at least 75% filled and in which every clue is a single word. Caveats such as (inits), (abbrev), (pl) are allowed and not counted. My crossword puzzle "Dedicated to the Conquest of the Universe", based on my quiz of the same title, was just posted. This is my official inspiration for Contract #54. Since I used a large crossword puzzle grid, maybe you can do one better by meeting the contract with a small or medium grid. Reply #172. Jun 08 19, 4:34 PM |

Dear All, Based on a previous contract (in which I was too slow to win), there was a challenge to write a quiz and a crossword that were linked. I thought I would have a go a this as it was a novel concept. So I have written a Movies Wordplay match quiz where you have to match characters, plot etc to a one word movie title (except the movie titles have only their vowels remaining). http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/Quiz-and-Crossword-Combo-1-Movies-397826.html To help you out you could do the corresponding crossword (Same title: Quiz and Crossword Combo #1: Movies) which contains the [full] title but the clue describes some other way of deriving this word (Ie it is not obvious from the clue that the answer is a one word movie title). http://www.funtrivia.com/crossword/play.cfm?gid=5778 The converse is also true -You could do the quiz to inform the crossword but in this case you would be looking for the letter order and number when you cannot derive from the clue as the movie title per se does not help. I have worked out a few of these concepts - they are not easy but before I commit them to templates I would like to get a bit of feedback from players to see if the concept actually works. Thank you Reply #173. Jun 08 19, 5:42 PM |

I would like to redress my error in claiming Contract #52 and then not meeting criteria as I read the contract wrongly. I have written an additional crossword http://www.funtrivia.com/crossword/play.cfm?gid=6481 that does meet the requisite criteria As a self imposed penalty, I also managed to construct same without requiring to insert caveats like plurals abbreviations and acronyms. The new challenge is to create a Medium crossword diagonally symmetrical any category where all words are between 5 and 9 letters long covering at least 75% of the grid. Abbreviations, acronyms, prefixes and suffixes not permitted. Reply #177. Jun 09 19, 3:40 PM |

I would like to claim contract 54: Create a crossword puzzle that is an adaptation of a quiz you wrote (any size, format, or topic) including at least 20 crossword answers that are based on important terms and/or names from your quiz. (by Bernie73) http://www.funtrivia.com/quizdetails.cfm?id=397498 http://www.funtrivia.com/crossword/play.cfm?gid=6489 The quiz is very difficult if you have never read the book 'Contact' so the CW will be nigh impossible (ie- only fit for the intrepid or foolhardy). The CW isn't symmetrical either, I just couldn't do it! Inspired by my love of cruising, here is the new contract: Write a 10 question quiz on cruise ship accidents. Must be passenger liners not ferries, barges or cargo ships. Reply #178. Jun 09 19, 5:37 PM |

Leith, You were able to create your cw on a medium template rather than a large template (like I did), so you are already a step ahead. Neither was I able to keep my the cw symmetrical. The contract was meant to push you into a fairly specific theme. Quite a few of the symmetrical CW's on FunTrivia are either themeless or have a very general theme. It's not an accident that there are more CW's in the general category than all other 19 categories put together. Reply #179. Jun 09 19, 7:50 PM |

I noticed that it had been a few days since the contracts had been updated and it was taking me some time to determine which new contract was which number and how many points contracts were worth, so I thought I would post an (unofficial) updated list. YMMV. Feel free to correct my math and or numbering if you think something was miscalculated. Contract #49 - 13 points: Write a quiz in the Music category about any band from one of the following genres: (Death Metal, Doom Metal, Progressive Metal, Industrial Metal or Gothic Metal). - (by RedHook13) Contract #50 - 12 points: Write a 10 question multiple choice quiz about Formula One (can be anything to do with the sport - circuits, grands prix, teams, drivers, a specific season, etc) (by Fifiona81) Contract #52 - 10 points: Construct a fully symmetrical CW, at least 75% filled and in which every clue is a single word. Caveats such as (inits), (abbrev), (pl) are allowed and not counted. (by Leith90) Contract #53 - 9 points: Construct a 10 question quiz that is a sequel to the quiz for Contract 29, but focuses on 10 Art Deco buildings in your country or region of the world. (If you live in the US, you need to write about 10 other Art Deco buildings in the US.) (by Bernie73) Contract #56 - 6 point: Write a 10 question multiple choice quiz on the Aussie band 'Sherbet'. - (by Leith90) Contract #57 - 5 point: Write a Sci/Tech quiz about one specific Moon in the Solar System, but it can not be the Earth's moon. (RedHook13) Contract #58 - 4 point: Create a medium sized symmetrical crossword puzzle in the Geography category, Which includes a minimum of 12 answers which are countries in Africa. (moonraker2) Contract #59 - 3 point: Write a 10 question quiz in any category where each question is written as a heroic couplet (2 rhyming lines in iambic pentameter).
