I have a suggestion We're coming up on 100 contracts. I say we maybe the powers that be can create an up-gradable badge or badgelet for people who reach a certain point milestone in this challenge. That would help keep this game going and give people on the bottom something to strive for. Reply #244. Jul 19 19, 10:23 AM |

Creating badges/badgelets for Lounge activities is tough because everything that happens on here has to be done manually. The Commission badgelet is something I have to put onto profiles myself. While it's not out of the question and the suggestion is appreciated, I don't really have an easy 'yes' for it. :s (Though I am by no means the final word.) Reply #245. Jul 20 19, 3:11 AM |

I wonder if there is a chance of a parallel track of quiz/crossword challenges reserved for authors with a small number of quizzes and/or crossword puzzles online. Our list of contracts has gone to some particularly specific/obscure themes but newer authors might be less intimidated by more general challenges such as "Create a small symmetrical crossword" or "Create a 10-question quiz that starts with the letter Q". Perhaps this would bring some new authors into the contracts. Reply #246. Jul 20 19, 5:37 AM |

I like this idea. Maybe we can make something work aside from this. I definitely think there's room for something like that. I think there's a bit of a catch in that the difficulty of these contracts really comes down to how fiendish the participants want to be. One thing I've found over the years is that some of the best quizzes can come from going far out of one's comfort zone, but at the same time it's just nice to have a straightforward requirement that sparks just as interesting idea. I personally find a lot of appeal in a contract asking 'Write a quiz starting with the letter Z' over anything asking me to count syllables in each answer or to write a quiz that loops a story around on itself, and when I start to claim mine here (soon!), I hope I can bring a healthy mixture that can keep things going. I hope whoever gets to issue the 100th contract will have a contract that has a connection to the idea of 100. Reply #248. Jul 20 19, 11:20 AM |

The idea of a parallel challenge is good, because if an 'easy' or straightforward CW or quiz contract is offered on this thread, they are snatched up pretty quickly by people with lots of experience. I'm guilty as charged because sometimes I like the easy options. But I also want to encourage new players, (because I was one once) which is why I try to make most of my CWs and quizzes 'easy'. It can be a breath of fresh air for the oldies or a nice little intro for the newbies. Reply #249. Jul 20 19, 4:38 PM |

I would like to claim Contract #82: Use one of Shakespeare's plays as a quiz title and write a quiz that has no connection to the Bard or any of his plays. Also write a Shakespeare themed crossword. Both need to be online to claim the contract. (by Zorba_Scank) Quiz "Much ado about Nothing" is about the development of the "Seinfeld" TV series https://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Television/Much-Ado-About-Nothing-396376.html The crossword is about the words Shakespeare introduced into the English language: https://www.funtrivia.com/crossword/play.cfm?gid=6441 New Challenge. Construct a quiz with a title that is appropriate for 10 question quiz that follows. The only stipulation is the title cannot contain any of the letters it has in common with the category of the quiz (eg "The Lion King" is not going to fit in Movies, Animals...) Reply #250. I have a question about Contract requirements. Can requiring other contracts be completed first or that a contract be worth a certain number of points be a requirement for a proposed contract? Reply #254. Aug 05 19, 4:58 PM |

I figure the contract can be whatever you want it to be, but that said, I think that funnelling people into specific ones using new contracts is a bit tricky to recommend. I find the most success comes from open-ended possibilities that lead the creator to think broadly to solve a challenge. As you might see, the ones on the board now are very complex or niche and they're moving slowly. These are likely going to keep coming up. Tough contracts happen. But for consistent turn-over, the best ones are going to be a bit less constrained. I say let the tough ones keep building points; someone will get to them eventually. These can already be plenty tough without requiring them to sit or locking others out. Reply #255. Aug 07 19, 11:05 PM |

I would like to submit my crossword puzzle "Royals" https://www.funtrivia.com/crossword/play.cfm?gid=6662 for Contract #91 Contract #91 - 9 points: Create a symmetrical small or medium Crossword about Kings and Queens (and Princes and Princesses). Not celebrities like Billie Jean King, fictional characters or the band Queen, we're talking real life Royalty. No acronyms or initials etc, and no more than 30% fillers. (by Leith90) For the next contract (the fabled Contract 100), I propose: Create a quiz and a crossword puzzle that both deal with the same general theme (which has a connection to concept of "100"). I would like to claim Contract #81 Contract #81 - 20 points: Write an Entertainment quiz about one specific WWF/WWE wrestler either male or female who does not have a quiz on them yet. (by RedHook13) for my quiz "The Life and Times of Classy Freddie Blassie" https://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Entertainment/The-Life-and-Times-of-Classy-Freddie-Blassie-398590.html For the next contract, I propose: Create a quiz that could have been written 100 years ago that is not in the History category. (Side note--what do I mean by written 100 years ago? That the questions and answer choices would have been factually correct 100 years ago and not speculative.) Reply #258. Aug 24 19, 11:29 AM |

I would like to claim Contract #92 Contract #92 - 10 points: Create a multiple choice quiz on European colonization. (by Zorba_Scank) for my quiz "Colonial Settlements That Weren't Big Hits" https://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/History/Colonial-Settlements-That-Werent-Big-Hits-398618.html For the next contract, I propose: Create a matching quiz in a category in which there are currently fewer than 5,000 quizzes online. (Side notes: 1. By category I mean the 20 broadest categories. By my count you currently have eight choices. 2. If this contract remains unclaimed for a ridiculously long period of time, it is possible that the quiz will be in a category for which there were fewer than 5,000 when writing the quiz began. If the category has more than 5,000 quizzes when the quiz goes online, it will still count.) Reply #259. Aug 26 19, 5:30 AM |

I would like to claim Contract 96 with my crossword puzzle "Named After a Plant". (I will post the links when I am able to access the website on something other than my phone.) For the next Contract, I propose: Look at the first item you submitted to the editors (quiz or crossword puzzle) you wrote for FunTrivia. Create a new item utilizing the same general theme but altering the presentation format in some way. (Note: This can be switching between quiz and crossword puzzle. It could also be type of quiz (regular, match, or photo). It could also be number of questions 5, 10, 15, 20, 25) I know the 5 question quiz would be the old quiz, not the new one. It could be size of crossword (small, medium, or large). It could type of symmetry in the cw or being symmetrical or not.) Reply #260. Aug 26 19, 7:31 PM |
