I'm curious about the language abilities of the Funtrivia populace. What languages do you speak? Which languages have you studied? Which languages do you find difficult to study? What has been your language learning experience?

I am fluent in Russian, Ukrainian (both native) and English.
Studied Italian for my Leaving Cert in school and know it pretty well.
Also studied German long time ago, so I remember only few phrases. Studied French in school too but hated it. It's too difficult in pronunciation.
I also understand some Polish as it is similar to Ukrainian.

Im very fluent in English, and I know how to read and write it too.

Im also fluent in Urdu and I know how to read and write it.

I don't speak Arabic but I know how to say a few words, but I do know how to read and write it. If some one told me what to write I would know how to spell it out and all. I just don't speak it :)

Oh yeah, I know how to count up to 5 in spanish. And I know how to say 'thank you' and 'your welcome'. My little sister watches Dora the Explorer and Go Diego Go so I learn a bit from that too.

I also know how to count up to 8 in Korean( I take Tae Kwon Do lessons and you have to know how to count in Korean for that). I even know how to say 'thank you' and other things to do with Tae Kwon Do :)

So I guess thats all I know up 'til today :)

Oh yeah and I know a few words in French. Only like 3 or 4 so that probably doesn't count.

Fluently I speak English, Chinese (Mandarin), and Taiwanese aka Fukien (Dialect of Chinese).

I speak a little Cantonese (enough to get me in and out of trouble), Japanese and what little I learned in Spanish in my one year of taking it in High School.

I speak English as my native language and can just about do 'schoolgirl' French and German. I can swear and/or order drinks and tell people where to go in about another 5 languages, and can say "I heard that" in about 17.
The "I heard that" was from my uni days, some groups of students would talk about others in their language, secure in the knowledge they could say what they liked and not be understood.
As soon as one identified the language, saying "I heard that" in it would stop them :-D

I speak English fluently, some Welsh and French, a little German and enough British Sign Language for a basic conversation. I'm intermittently learning Latin at the moment.
