Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was King's second novel to be published?

Answer: 'Salem's Lot

King has revisited 'Salem's Lot in the short stories "Jerusalem's Lot" and "One For the Road", both of which appear in "Night Shift."
2. What was his first collection of short stories called?

Answer: Night Shift

"Graveyard Shift" is one of the stories in it and is about working in a factory with unwanted guests in the basement. A lot of his short stories are darker than the novels, with not-so-happy endings.
3. This story contains the phrase, "The sparrows are flying again".

Answer: The Dark Half

One of his many stories with a writer as the lead character, it centers around the internal conflict between Thad Beaumont and his pseudonym, George Stark.
4. Who co-wrote "The Talisman" and "Black House" with Mr. King?

Answer: Peter Straub

You better know this. There is most likely going to be another collaboration in this series, and hopefully it won't take as long as between the first two.
5. In this story we find out the fate of Thad Beaumont after the events of "The Dark Half".

Answer: Needful Things

"Cujo" was set in Castle Rock also, but was written prior to "The Dark Half". "Insomnia" and "Bag of Bones" are set in Derry (Well, Mike Noonan was from Derry).
For those of you who haven't read "Needful Things" (Shame on you) I won't say what happened to Thad.
6. Who is the main character in "Insomnia"?

Answer: Ralph Roberts

Ben Mears was in "'Salem's Lot", Leland Gaunt destroyed Castle Rock in "Needful Things", and Johnny Marinville played dual roles in "Desperation" and "The Regulators."
7. Which of these books was NOT written under his pseudonym, Richard Bachman?

Answer: Desperation

"Desperation" and "The Regulators" were released around the same time and center around different events with the same characters.
8. Which of these novellas is NOT contained in "Different Seasons"?

Answer: The Langoliers

"The Langoliers" was in "Four Past Midnight."
9. Which two characters survive in "'Salem's Lot"?

Answer: Ben and Mark

You can figure this out pretty easy from the prologue.
10. Whose father goes into the "Black House" in the book of the same name?

Answer: Amy St. Pierre

Armand "Beezer" St. Pierre helps Jack Sawyer out in this one.
