Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Ann-Margret said about him,'He's an animal. Definitely an animal. A very interesting animal.'

Answer: Elvis Presley

Ann-Margret was the co-star of Elvis in the 1964 film "Viva Las Vegas". They bonded over shared interests, including motorcycles and music before his marriage to Priscilla. After his death, she referred to him as her "great love." She gave the quote, which was in reference to his intense energy, in her 1994 autobiography, "Ann-Margret: My Story".
2. Christopher Plummer said about her, 'Working with her is like getting hit over the head with a big Valentine's card.'

Answer: Julie Andrews

They co-starred in the 1965 musical, "The Sound of Music". Although he was initially dismissive of her, they grew to be dear friends. He would later refer to her as Ms. Wonderful. This comment was made several times over the years to describe her sweet nature, but is found in an interview with "The Hollywood Reporter" in 2011.
3. Walter Matthau said about him,'They used to relate to him as though he was a movie star. Then they'd realize he was one of the boys.'

Answer: Jimmy Stewart

Both men served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Stewart, already a well known actor, was a bomber pilot, while Matthau was a radioman and gunner. For a time, Stewart was Matthau's squadron commander. According to "Air & Space Forces Magazine", Stewart was also known to be a great briefer, and Matthau would sneak into the briefings to see Stewart as he was 'marvelous to watch.'
4. Bing Crosby said about her, 'As a matter of fact, I think she's the greatest talent, male or female.'

Answer: Judy Garland

The two were friends and collaborators in the 1940s and 1950s. They recorded duets while working for Decca records, and after Garland's second suicide attempt Crosby made sure that she appeared on several episodes of his radio show, "The Bing Crosby Show for Chesterfield" from 1950-52. Crosby praised Garland's talents as an actress and singer in a March 8, 1954, "Hollywood" article by Bob Thomas, whose column was syndicated by the Associated Press.
5. Jack Lemmon said about him, 'I have lost someone I loved as a brother, as a closest friend and a remarkable human being. We have also lost one of the best damn actors we'll ever see.'

Answer: Walter Matthau

Jack was talking about Walter Matthau after his death on July 1, 2000. They were in an amazing ten movies together, starting with 'The Fortune Cookie' (1966). Although they were close friends off-screen, in films their characters often clashed.
6. Humphrey Bogart said about her, 'She talks at you as though you were a microphone.'

Answer: Katharine Hepburn

Bogart made this quote at the time he and Hepburn co-starred in "The African Queen". This is believed to refer to her intense, almost lecturing-style of conversation. They actually had a respectful relationship while working together. Perhaps he viewed their working together positively since the role won him their only Oscar.
7. Oliver Hardy said about him, '[We] have been together for 23 years and we're still friends.'

Answer: Stan Laurel

Perhaps part of their secret to having a good working relationship is moving in very different circles outside of their jobs. Each deeply admired the professional abilities and accomplishments of the other. Hardy said this in 1950 in an interview with Stan Magnan. Interestingly, Stan would often stay back to go over a routine while Oliver would be heading out to the golf course.
8. Nicole Kidman said about him, 'Well I can wear heels now.'

Answer: Tom Cruise

Kidman made the comment on "The David Letterman Show". The audience seemed to appreciate the comment and even Letterman himself laughed. Kidman and Cruised had divorced in 2001 after being married for a decade. Kidman stood 5 feet, 11 inches and Cruise was about 5 feet, 7 inches.
9. Jennifer Aniston said about him, 'I will love [him] for the rest of my life.'

Answer: Brad Pitt

Jennifer's quote about Brad came from a 2005 interview from "Vanity Fair" magazine done shortly after their divorce. The two of them along with Angelina Jolie were part of a juicy tabloid story. Though each has since been in relationships with others, the two get along better as of late.
10. George Burns said about her, 'For forty years my act consisted about one joke. And then she died.'

Answer: Gracie Allen

George Burns used this quote in his book "A Love Story", a 1988 memoir about his wife Gracie Allen. Contrary to the mood of the quote, he was heartbroken by her 1964 death for the remaining three plus decades of his life. The quote did match the tenor of their act, however, where she portrayed a scatterbrained character with zany one-liners.
