Jo-Carroll Dennison was born on December 16, 1923 in Florence, Arizona by a prison doctor because the family was traveling from Texas to California for the father's traveling medicine show. She entered the Miss America pageant as Miss Texas on September 12, 1942. Jo-Carroll won the preliminary swimsuit and for her talent she danced to "Deep in the Heart of Texas".

After her reign as Miss America 1942, Jo-Carroll moved to Hollywood and was given a seven-year contract at 20th Century Fox. She was paid $100 a week.
2. My name is Mallory Hytes Hagan and I am Miss _______.

Mallory Hytes Hagan was born on December 23, 1988 in Memphis, Tennessee. She entered the Miss America pageant on January 12, 2013 as Miss New York. Mallory moved to New York after her freshman year at Auburn University. Mallory's talent was a tap dance to "Get Up Offa That Thing" by James Brown.

After her reign, Mallory graduated from F.I.T. and went to work as a newscaster. In 2022, Mallory ran unsuccessfully for the Alabama House of Representatives. Mallory's reign as Miss America 2013 was only nine months long because the Miss America pageant moved from Las Vegas, Nevada to Atlantic City, New Jersey and began airing in September.
