Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Mickey and Minnie Mouse in person
Answer: Adventurer's Outpost
The Adventurer's Outpost is an indoor, air-conditioned character meet-and-greet location where guests can meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse together in their safari gear. The location is themed as the Mouses' headquarters, decorated with photos and memorabilia from their world travels.
This is one of the few places in all of the Disney parks where guests can meet Mickey and Minnie together in a park-specific outfit.
2. Amnio tank
Answer: Avatar Flight of Passage
Avatar Flight of Passage is an advanced 3D flying simulator attraction located in the Pandora - The World of Avatar land. The ride allows guests to experience the Na'vi "rite of passage" by linking with an avatar and flying on the back of a mountain banshee.
This is accomplished by using motorcycle-style ride vehicles (called "link chairs") that pitch and move to simulate the banshee's motion. The ride experience is enhanced with 3D glasses, wind gusts, mists, and specialized scents. To get to the ride, the guests walk through a giant queue that takes them past cave dwellings and a modern lab.
In the lab is an amnio tank where an avatar body is suspended in a murky, glowing, alkaline suspension fluid. It is a key visual element, creating an immersive, scientific atmosphere before guests are "genetically matched" with their own avatar for the ride itself.
3. Naked mole rat
Answer: Gorilla Falls Trail
The Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail is a self-guided walking tour in the Africa section of the park. The trail, spanning about three-eighths of a mile (.6 km), is designed as a conservation school and animal sanctuary within a fictional wildlife reserve.
The main attraction is the Western lowland gorillas, with both family groups and males visible from different vantage points along the trail. Guests can watch hippos swim and roll through the water via an underwater viewing window. There is a a screened aviary filled with exotic, free-flying birds like turacos and bearded barbets. There is also a research center a guest can visit. In that exhibit there is a glass-enclosed area showing the underground burrows and tunnels where the naked mole rats can be found.
4. A Yeti
Answer: Expedition Everest
Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain is a themed roller coaster that takes guests on a simulated journey through the Himalayas to the base of Mount Everest. It is in the Asia section of the park. The artificial mountain stands at 199.5 feet (60 m), making it the tallest attraction at Walt Disney World and the tallest artificial mountain in any Disney park.
The ride's queue winds through things like a Tibetan village and a Yeti museum. The ride starts with a scenic climb up the mountain. The train reaches a section of twisted and broken track, presumably the work of the mythical snow monster. It then plunges backward in the dark, where riders see the shadow of the massive beast. After a fast-paced escape, riders encounter a Yeti. This is a large, 22-foot-tall (6.7 m) Yeti audio-animatronic with a strobe light.
5. A wrecked logging truck
Answer: Kali River Rapids
Kali River Rapids is a whitewater raft ride located in the Asia section of the park. The attraction takes guests on a journey through a lush jungle and a site impacted by illegal logging. Guests walk through a Southeast Asian temple before boarding a 10-person circular raft.
The adventure begins with a 90-foot (27 m) ascent up a lift hill. The raft then drifts past waterfalls and geysers through a beautiful rainforest setting. The ride ends with a drop down a slope, followed by a spinning journey through the remaining white-water rapids. Then the raft passes under a bridge where onlookers can spray riders with water cannons.
In the middle of the journey the raft enters a charred, deforested area where the sound of chainsaws can be heard. Here, a fully loaded logging truck is seen, having wrecked into the river mud. This enhances the theme of the environmental damage done by a logging company.
6. Sumatran tiger
Answer: Maharajah Jungle Trek
The Maharajah Jungle Trek is a self-guided walking trail in the Asia section of the park. It takes people through a forest and an immersive, lush environment themed to resemble ancient Indian and Southeast Asian ruins.
The main attraction here is the Sumatran tiger habitat, where guests can see the endangered tigers. The habitat for the tigers allows for both close viewing and promotes natural behaviors of the cats.
There is an open-air cave that allows guests to see various bats such as Malayan flying foxes up close, without glass barriers. The area also boasts komodo dragons and water buffalo. A large aviary houses over fifty species of Asian birds.
7. Image of David Graybird the chimpanzee
Answer: Tree of Life
The Tree of Life is the iconic 145-foot (44 m) tall centerpiece of the park. It looks like a real baobab tree but is actually a feat of engineering It was built around a repurposed offshore oil rig to withstand Florida's hurricane-force winds. Its base is 50 feet (15 m) wide and its canopy spans 165 feet (50 m). The tree features over 100,000 artificial, foot-long leaves in five shades of green, each designed to move in the wind for a natural appearance.
The trunk, branches, and roots are adorned with over 300 detailed carvings of existing and extinct animal species. It took over ten artists working for a year and a half to create the artwork. One of the pieces is a carving of David Graybird, a chimpanzee made famous by the primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall. This was carved after a special request from the doctor herself.
8. Shaman of Songs
Answer: Na'vi River Journey
The Na'vi River Journey is an immersive dark boat ride located within the Pandora - The World of Avatar section of the park. The attraction takes guests on a serene journey through a bioluminescent rainforest on the alien moon of Pandora. This is all based on the film "Avatar".
Guests board a reed boat and glide along the sacred river through a series of caves and into a glowing rainforest. They see exotic plants and creatures. The ride uses elaborate special effects to create an otherwordly atmosphere.
The journey ends with an encounter with the Shaman of Songs, a highly advanced Audio-Animatronic figure. The Shaman is seen playing music that sends positive energy throughout the forest.
9. Asian otters
Answer: Discovery Island Trails
The Discovery Island Trails are a series of self-guided walking paths that loop around the base of the Tree of Life at the center of the park. Along the trails, guests will find various observation stations and natural-looking exhibits featuring a diverse array of animals.
There are red kangaroos, flamingos, Galapagos tortoises, porcupines, and Ring-tailed lemurs. There is also an area of the trails known as the "Otter Grotto," which is supported by the company Otterbox. It is here the popular Asian small-clawed otters are found. The habitat features multiple viewing areas, including an underwater section. Guests can also watch as the animal care team provides enrichment activities, such as giving them mussels to pry open or making fish "popsicles" for a cool treat.
10. Lion on Pride Rock
Answer: Kilimanjaro Safaris
Kilimanjaro Safaris is a large, open-air safari ride at the park. During the ride, guests board a rugged, open-air vehicle for a guided tour through the 110-acre Harambe Wildlife Reserve, where multiple species of exotic African animals roam freely.
Guests can potentially see elephants, giraffes, black and white rhinos, hippos, cheetahs, African painted dogs, zebras, crocodiles, and flamingos. A Cast Member drives the safari vehicle and provides information about the animals and their habitats. Because the real animals have minds of their own, each safari is a unique and unpredictable experience.
One of the more popular sites to see on the safari is Pride Rock. This is a large rock formation and is the habitat for the lions on the safari. They can often be seen lounging and sunbathing on the elevated perches.
