There were a lot of good episodes in season eight, including an episode that started a spin-off. There are no questions about "Bleep" because I am not allowed to repeat what D.W. said here. There are also no questions about "Kiss and Tell."

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "Dear Adil", what country does Arthur's pen pal live in?

Answer: Turkey

When Arthur finds and reads old letters from his father's pen pal, he decides that he wants one too. He asks Mr. Ratburn how to get one and he ends with up a Turkish boy named Adil. Adil's father owns a grocery store. Arthur writes letters to Adil, but he is afraid that his life is boring and that his letters are boring. Buster gives Arthur a comic called "Illinois Jack" to learn more about Turkey for some inspiration to ask questions to Adil. Arthur sends a letter asking Adil what his camel is like and to describe the taste of lamb's eyes. Adil is confused by this letter and he does not write back.

Arthur sadly waits in vain for three weeks for a response letter. One day, Alberto walks by and sees Arthur reading an "Illinois Jack" comic. Alberto explains that these comics have inaccurate information about every country. Arthur sadly realizes that he may have offended his pen pal with his questions and he may have lost him forever. His father encourages him to write a letter explaining what happened, saying that it's not always easy to make friends in other cultures but it's worth it. Arthur looks at Adil's letter and discovers that he has an e-mail address. Arthur sends an apology e-mail explaining where he got his inaccurate information about Turkey. Arthur and Adil end up being good friends and discovering that they have a lot in common. The episode ends with Arthur being angry at Adil because he sends a Turkish Mary Moo Cow CD to D.W., which she listens to, and sings along to, at night so Arthur can't sleep.
2. In "Bitzi's Break-up", why does Bitzi break up with Harry Mills?

Answer: She's too busy for a relationship

Buster is devastated when his mother breaks up with Harry Mills. He tries to get them back together by sending Harry a dinner invitation at the Baxter house and signing his mother's name, but that does not work. Bitzi tells Buster that she still likes Harry, she's just too busy with her job to be in a romantic relationship.

However, Harry Mills and Bitzi Baxter are still friends and Harry still invites Buster to baseball games.
3. In "Fernfern and the Secret of Moose Mountain", who is Fern's hiking buddy?

Answer: Francine

Mr. Frensky takes Francine and a few of her female friends (no boys appear in this episode) on a hiking trip and he divides the girls into pairs. He pairs Francine with Fern because Francine is an expert on hiking this mountain (she and her father have done this hike multiple times before) and this is Fern's first hiking experience, so he expects Francine to teach Fern a lot. At first, Francine does not care about Fern. Francine only cares about breaking her personal record for quickest hike up the mountain. At one point, Fern wants to go to the bathroom but Francine tells her to do it in the bushes. Francine's father scolds her and Francine escorts Fern to the bathroom. After this, Francine takes Fern through what she thinks is a short cut, but they end up getting separated from the group and they seem to be lost.

Fern learned a lot about mountains from the books that she read and Francine learned a lot from her previous hiking experiences. When Fern sees a stream, she knows that water flows down, so walking against the current takes you further uphill. Fern and Francine both know that there's more moss on the northern side of a tree. When the girls see a hawk, Francine knows it's a sign that they are near the top. Fern and Francine get to the top where the find a shiny quartz and a hawk feather. They only get to enjoy it for a few minutes before the ranger comes and escorts them back down. Mr. Frensky thought the girls were lost and asked the ranger for help. The other girls are mad because they had planned to follow Francine and Fern, but the two girls got separated from the group and the rest of the girls couldn't follow them and they got mad. Fern and Francine give their souvenirs (the quartz and the hawk feather) to the other girls. Fern tells the story of how they got lost and how they made it to the top. The other girls forgive them because they love the story and Muffy wants to have it turned into a movie and published.
4. In "Thanks a Lot, Binky," who appears in Binky's dream?

Answer: Uncle Slam

When Rattles is about to attempt a risky daredevil move, Binky informs Mr. Haney. Rattles calls Binky a "Squealer." Despite Binky's mother praising him for this, Binky feels bad because Rattles is ungrateful. Binky then realizes that he has done a lot of nice things and no one ever thanks him.

One night, he decides never to be nice again. He then has a dream where he meets his favorite celebrity, a wrestler named Uncle Slam. Uncle Slam shows Binky all the nice things that Binky has done and he shows how unclean Elwood City would be without him. Uncle Slam then shows Binky someone who works 24 hours an day for no money and never gets thanked. It's Binky's mother. Uncle Slam then shows Binky what life would be like if she decided to stop being nice. Binky is then wearing torn clothing, the house is unclean, there's no food, and his parents always go on vacations and leave him behind. Binky wakes up from his dream and in the morning, he makes breakfast for his mother and gives her a "Thank you" card. As he goes to sleep the next night, he says "Thank you, Uncle Slam."
5. In "Arthur's Snow Biz", who starts a snow-shoveling business to compete with Arthur's business (before Muffy does so at the end of the episode)?

Answer: Buster

When Mr. Molina pays Arthur five dollars to shovel his driveway, Arthur starts a snow-shoveling business. He makes good money, but then Buster starts a rival business. Buster starts his business by doing things Arthur wasn't doing at first (making posters, using music to advertise, lowering prices). Arthur then starts doing these things, which leads to the two of them trying constantly to one-up each other to prove who is the better business. In the end, their bodies hurt everywhere and they aren't making much money anymore because they had to lower their prices to under a dollar to beat the other one.

They both end up giving up their business and at the end of the episode, they start playing in the snow with their friends. Also, Muffy starts her own business at the end of the episode and she has a huge snow plow that Bailey drives. Neither Arthur nor Buster have the money to buy the tools necessary to compete with Muffy, and that's another reason that they quit.
6. In "Bugged", who has a nightmare that he's a bug?

Answer: Brain

Brain likes to tell people what to do and correct them when they are wrong. He's usually right, but he unintentionally annoys some people in this way. One night after he overhears Francine calling him a pest, he has a nightmare that he actually is a bug.

When he awakes from his nightmare, he takes a vow of silence. This lasts for a good chunk of the school day, but he breaks it at recess to help his team win a game of Capture the Flag. When he asks his friends if it bugs him when he tells them what to do, Buster says that it does, but not when they win. Arthur points out the flaws of the rest of their friends in a way to let Brain know that he is not the only one who bugs people. Brain is relieved to hear this. Francine is not happy when Arthur calls her a "big mouth." The episode ends with Francine's nightmare, in which she actually has a big mouth.
7. At the end of "Fernkenstein's Monster", who has ideas to make Fern's story even scarier?

Answer: D.W.

One day at lunch, Fern tells a scary story to some of her friends. They end up being traumatized by the story for a few days and running away out of fear every time they see Fern. Near the end of the episode, she donates some of her books to the library.

Her friends come in to the library still being afraid of her, but she makes some adjustments to the story to make it less scary and to make them happier. Unlike the other kids who are the same age as Fern, D.W. isn't very traumatized by the story and she has ideas to make it even scarier. Fern is impressed by D.W.'s ideas and the episode ends with the two of them walking off together, bouncing ideas off of each other to make the story as scary as possible.
8. In "D.W., Dancing Queen", who teaches D.W. how to dance?

Answer: Binky

The pre-schoolers visit Mr. Ratburn's class and each student in the class is paired up with a pre-schooler. The older kids has to get to know the younger kid and do a project on the younger by the end of the week. Binky is paired with D.W. At first, they do not seem to have much in common. When Arthur watches TV while they are in the room, there's a commercial with dancing in it. This is when D.W. and Binky discover that they both like dancing. They agree to do a dancing project, but D.W. does not know how to dance. Binky decides to teach her.

Binky is not a very good teacher. He uses French words that D.W. does not know, he gives her too much information at once, he gives her index cards which she cannot read, and he rarely says anything encouraging. D.W. does not learn very well and Binky concludes that she is a lousy student. Later on, when Binky tries teaching these dance moves to his friends who are his age, they explain to him what he is doing wrong. He then realizes that it was his fault that D.W. wasn't learning and he improves his teaching methods. D.W. then improves her dancing skills. The day before the presentation, Binky twists his ankle. D.W. has to dance without him, although two of Binky's friends are back-up dancers. D.W. does very well and Binky gets an A. Binky gives new belts to his friends and he gives his first pair of ballet slippers to D.W.
9. "Sue Ellen Chickens Out" is the debut of Mr. Manino. What business does he own?

Answer: Sugar Bowl

"The Sugar Bowl" appears in many episodes, but this is the first time we see the owner. He plans on selling the business to Chickin Lickin. Sue Ellen stages a protest in front of the Chickin Lickin at the mall to prevent this from happening. Her protest does not accomplish much, but near the end of the episode, Mr. Manino sees that his customers are sad at the prospect of the Sugar Bowl going away.

He decides not to sell the place. Some of his customers dance in celebration and Sue Ellen gets her favorite ice cream flavor at the end.
10. In "Postcards From Buster", where do Arthur and Buster go?

Answer: New York City

The Reads and Buster go on a joint trip together to New York City. Buster goes there to visit his father. The Reads just go there to have a good time. Arthur spends most of the day with Buster and his father. The Read parents and D.W. spend most of the day together without Arthur. Buster's mother stays home, but she gives him a video camera so he can film his adventures and show them to her. Arthur, Buster, and Buster's father visit a lot of businesses in New York, talk to a lot of people, and learn a lot about the culture of New York City. Things do not go as planned for them (their car gets towed because their father parked it in front of a "No Parking" sign) but they love their adventures there. D.W. and her parents have considerably less fun, because it takes her a long time to be ready to leave her hotel room, and then they go to a musical that got a one-star review, which D.W. thinks it deserved when she sees it.

There is an entire spin off show called "Postcards From Buster" in which he visits various parts of the United States, lives a few days with a family there, and learns all about their lives and their cultures. This episode is essentially the pilot episode of that show while simultaneously being officially recognized as an episode of "Arthur".
11. In "Desk Wars", who is the first one to clean up the mess in the class?

Answer: George

It's a hot sunny day and the kids are in a bad mood. Mr. Ratburn makes it worse by making Brain leave his desk when he did nothing wrong, and by sending Brain to Arthur's desk. It gets even worse when Mr. Ratburn leaves the room, leaving the kids unsupervised.

They all get in a massive fight and make a big mess. Mr. Haney comes in, stops the fight, and tells the class to clean up the mess or they will stay after school. Most of the kids have no desire to clean up the mess and deny responsibility for the fight. George is the first one to clean anything up.

This surprises the kids, who all agree that George did not make any of the mess. George says that he does not care who started the fight and they all need to clean up. Inspired by George's example, the other kids end their fight and clean up the mess.
12. In "Desperately Seeking Stanley", who does Vicita give Stanley to?

Answer: Timmy Tibble

Arthur sells his teddy bear to his neighbor. He then notices that Vicita is not taking good care of it. He attempts to buy Stanley back, but she says that she gave it to Timmy Tibble. This horrifies Arthur because the Tibble twins have a reputation for smashing stuff.

When he arrives at the Tibble house, Grandma Tibble shows him where the teddy bear is. It's in a locked room. Grandma Tibble sewed it up very well and made a raincoat for it. Arthur initially decides that the teddy bear is better off there, but at the end of the episode, he decides to keep it for the weekend.
13. In "Tales From the Crib", who helps Vicita feel comfortable in her new bed?

Answer: D.W.

Vicita is terrified when her parents get rid of her crib and replace it with a bed. D.W. calms her down by telling her the story of the time this happened to her. D.W. had some trouble sleeping during her first two nights in her new bed, but then one night, her mother slept in the bed with her.

After that, D.W. says she never had trouble sleeping again (although we know that's not true because in "D.W.'s Baby" she had plenty of trouble sleeping when Kate first came into the room). Vicita gets her parents' permission to have D.W. sleep over in the bed with her.

At the end of the episode, D.W. gets out of bed to steal some ice cream from the Molinas.
14. In "Flea to be You and Me", what is the Flea's name?

Answer: Pepe

At the beginning of the episode, Pal itches a lot. Kate uses a magnifying glass to discover that a flea is biting him and she flicks it off. Amigo is about to squash the flea, but the flea begs for mercy and Kate tells Amigo to give the flea a chance. The flea then tells his story.

He was half of a flea circus and his brother, Sale, was the other half. One day, they were performing in Rome, and a sudden gust of wind blew Pepe away. He spends the next few minutes looking for his brother while nearly getting squashed. A mouse named Alessio rescued him. Then he took him on a ship to Africa, which took him further away from his brother. He then hitched a ride on a camel, which took him even further away. He then ended up on a hippo and was about to be eaten by a bird. To save his own life, he performed his act for the bird. When the hippo took a bath, Pepe escaped. He then found a tourist that spoke Italian and hopped on his suit case, thinking he was headed back to Rome. He ended up in Japan. There he befriended a cricket, but then someone captured Pepe and the cricket and kept them as pets. Pepe jumped through the air hole and rescued the cricket. Pepe left the house and then ended upon a dog. At this point, it turned out that Pepe was in the house of Mr. Read's pen pal. The dog flipped Pepe right into a bottle. The bottle was then shipped to the Read house because Mr. Read had sent a letter to his pen pal requesting something that happened to be in that particular bottle. Pepe left the bottle and ended up on Pal. He then concluded his story.

He then leaves the Read house and ends up on a squirrel. He says goodbye to his new friends and thanks them for not killing them. At the end of the episode, Mrs. Read gets a flyer for Pepe and Sale's Circus that says "Reunited at last." This makes Kate and Pal smile.
15. In "Big Horns George", who introduces George to blues music?

Answer: Brain

When Ms. McGrady and Koko Taylor enter Brain's ice cream shop, he is thrilled to meet Taylor. She is thrilled to meet a kid who loves her music. Ms. McGrady invites him over to her house, where they will play some blues music. She also invites George, who is in the shop at the time. When George asks who that was, Brain closes the ice cream shop and takes George to his house. Brain plays one of Koko Taylor's albums for George. Brain also sings a song that he wrote. Brain then lets George borrow some of his albums.

George ends up listening to them and loving them. He then buys a harmonica. On the big day, George goes to Ms. McGrady's house. Binky and Francine are there. They advise George not to play his harmonica because they think he will be teased. First, they also listen to Koko Taylor perform and they love it. She then encourages the kids to get up on stage and perform. She singles out George because he has his harmonica. He goes to the microphone, but then he gets nervous. He sings a song that he wrote, but he sings it so quietly that no one can hear him. Embarrassed, he runs out of the house. Koko tries to cheer him up, but he goes home and throws out his harmonica.

When he gets home, he discovers a CD that he hasn't listened to yet from Taj Mahal. He loves it. He and his father then make a guitar. He plays it really well. He then returns to Ms. McGrady's house and plays another song for her and Koko Taylor. While he is performing, Taj Mahal shows up. Taj Mahal fixes George's broken guitar string, and they perform George's song together at the end of the episode.

"Big Horns George" is one of my favorite episodes. It focuses heavily on George, who is one of my favorite characters. It also significantly features two of my other favorite characters, Brain and Ms. McGrady. It also has two of my favorite guest stars that this show had, Koko Taylor and Taj Mahal. It's not the first episode many people think of when they think of "Arthur", but it's one of my favorites.
