Welcome to our Belgian adventure! Pack your bags - we're about to explore the best bits of this charming country.

Our journey begins in , a city deeply affected by the events of the First World War. The tragic history is preserved at the In Flanders Fields Museum. As you walk through the exhibits, you can almost hear the echoes of the past.

Next, we head north to , also known as the 'Queen of the Coastal Cities', famous for its wide, sandy beaches and lively promenade. Just a short ride away is Bruges, where families can enjoy rides, shows and attractions at .

Continuing through the Dutch-speaking region of , we stop in , home to the world-famous carnival that fills the streets with parades, costumes and confetti every year.

Next, we travel to , a city celebrated for its artistic heritage. Here, the Rubenshuis museum preserves the memory of one of Belgium's most famous painters.

A short drive away, Mechelen awaits with its majestic tower, visible from miles around with its unforgettable clock and belfry.

Crossing into the French-speaking region of , our first stop is Liège, home to the impressive . Then we head to Redu, where the allows visitors to explore rockets, astronauts, and the wonders of the cosmos. Continuing our journey through Wallonia, we reach , whose historic streets are overlooked by the famous Citadel.

Finally, after exploring Belgium from west to east, we arrive in the capital, Brussels. The iconic statue is one of the city's most famous attractions and brings our tour to a cheerful close.

Belgium is a small country in Western Europe, bordered by France, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The country has a rich history and culture, as well as stunning natural beauty. It is also famous for its chocolate, waffles, beer and medieval towns.

In this quiz, we travelled 600 kilometres, giving us the chance to experience the Dutch-speaking region of Flanders in the north and the French-speaking region of Wallonia in the south before ending our journey in Brussels, the capital. En route, we visited several fascinating cities, each with its own unique charm.

Ypres, for example, was completely rebuilt after World War I and hosts the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate every evening.
Ostend is a former royal summer resort known for its seafood and long pier stretching into the North Sea.
Bruges is famous for its canals, medieval architecture and cobbled streets, and stepping into the city feels like stepping back in time.
Aalst is renowned for its giant puppets and colourful carnival, which is recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage.
Antwerp is home to a bustling port, a diamond district and a vibrant cultural life.
Mechelen is a medieval town with charming streets, historic towers and lively squares.
Liège is known for its rich industrial heritage, stunning architecture and a vibrant cultural scene.
Redu is a small village famous for its space-themed attractions and astronomical activities.
Namur is situated at the confluence of the Sambre and Meuse rivers and boasts a citadel offering panoramic views.
Brussels, the capital city, is home to the headquarters of NATO and the European Union. Iconic landmarks include the medieval Grand Place, the Atomium, and, of course, the Manneken Pis statue.
