It shares borders with 14 other countries and faces the Pacific Ocean and several seas. China's geography is characterized by a "three-step staircase" that descends in altitude from the high mountains of the west to the low-lying plains and coastal regions of the east. The Himalaya Mountains on the west lead to plateaus in the center of the country then to a low-lying basin.
China is a key part of the world's tea production and is a leader in rapid technological advancement. Visitors come to the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and to see the Terracotta Army. China's official language is Mandarin Chinese. (Zhōngguó translates to "Middle Kingdom")

Russia is situated across the northern edge of the Eurasian continent, spanning both eastern Europe and northern Asia. It is, by area, the largest country in the world. It faces the Arctic Ocean to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the east and borders 14 other countries by land. This vast territory contains nearly every major ecological zone except tropical rainforests, ranging from Arctic deserts to humid subtropics. Russia has over 100,000 rivers with the Volga being Europe's longest.

It faces the Adriatic Sea to the east, the Ionian Sea to the south, and the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west, and borders four other countries - France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia - along its northern border. The Alps are in the northern part of the country while the Apennines mountain range is the "spine" of the country.
The plains and valleys hold vineyards for wines and olive groves full of fruit. Visitors to Italy can see the Colosseum in Rome (the capital), the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the canals of Venice. Its official language is Italian.
6. USA (United States of America)

It faces the Sea of Japan to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east and shares no land borders at all. Despite being an island nation, roughly 75% of its land is covered by rugged, forested mountains, which forces most of the large population to cluster into dense coastal plains. The islands range from subarctic climates to mountains to subtropical areas.
Japan is known for its high-tech robotics and automotive industries. Visitors can visit the Fushimi Inari Shrine and the historic Golden Pavilion in Kyoto. The capital, Tokyo, contains the Imperial Palace. The country's official language is Japanese. Nihon translates to the "sun's origin".

It faces the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the Red Sea to the east, and borders three other countries. While often thought of as a singular desert, its landscape is split into four distinct physical regions. The Nile River valley is a fertile strip of land, the Sahara Desert area is a plateau, the eastern area is mountainous, and the Sinai Peninsula holds flat, sandy plains. Its capital, Cairo, sits in a delta area near the river.
Egypt provides cotton to the world and has sovereign control over the strategic Suez Canal. It offers very historic sites to visitors, including the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, and the Valley of the Kings. Its official language is Arabic. Misr is from the Modern Standard Arabic.
