1. The Druid of Shannara

"The Druid of Shannara" (1991) is the second book in Terry Brooks' tetralogy called "The Heritage of Shannara". The story in this novel revolves around a druid named Walker Boh returning a castle to the world known as the Four Lands. This world is a futuristic representation of our own world, and Brooks' "The Genesis of Shannara" trilogy reveals that the Four Lands are located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States and Canada.
2. Northern Lights

Answer: Phillip Pullman

Philip Pullman's 1995 young-adult fantasy novel "Northern Lights" is the first book in the trilogy "His Dark Materials". The novel is set in a parallel universe and follows the protagonist Lyra Belacqua to the Arctic in search of a missing friend and imprisoned uncle. Pullman's creation was released as a movie and a video game in 2007 under the name "The Golden Compass".
3. The Keeping Place

"The Keeping Place" (1999) is Isobelle Carmody's fourth book in the "Obernewtyn Chronicles". Emily Rodda is known for her "Deltora Quest" series. "Return to Del" (2002) is the eighth book in that series and focuses on a group of companions finding the heir to the throne of their kingdom.
10. Faith of the Fallen

The sixth book in Terry Goodkind's sprawling "Sword of Truth" series features Richard Rahl abandoning his leadership role to help Kahlan, who is recovering in the Wasteland. "Faith of the Fallen" (2000) is the most philosophical book in the series, featuring a lengthy speech that Richard Rahl, working as a woodcarver, gives to the common people to inspire them to 'rise up' and fight for their own freedom.
