Mr Bennet is the owner of Longbourn estate. He has no official first name, according to Jane Austen's book, "Pride and Prejudice". Mr Bennet is a saint when it comes to dealing with his wife. He has often stated how acquainted he is with his wife's nerves. Mr. Bennet loves all his daughters, but seems to hold his second oldest daughter, Elizabeth, in higher esteem.
2. Mrs Bennet
Mrs Bennet's maiden name was Gardiner. Her father was a lawyer and she has two siblings. Mrs. Bennet is a highly strung woman. Her main focus is getting her five daughters married to wealthy men so the family can be taken care of when her husband passes away.
3. Jane Bennet
Jane Bennet is in her early twenties. She is the oldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Bennet. Jane is described as quiet and reserved. 4. Elizabeth Bennet
Elizabeth Bennet is a very opinionated young woman. She is in her early twenties and her father's favorite. She is led to believe a false story about Fitzwilliam Darcy which causes her prejudice of him.
5. Mary Bennet
Mary Bennet is in her late teens. Mary is seen as conceited by certain members of her family. Whereas her older sisters have a talent for playing piano and singing, Mary can do neither. Mary is the middle child in the family and sees herself as a loner since Elizabeth and Jane are closer in age, while Kitty and Lydia are closer in age.
6. Catherine Bennet
Catherine Bennet is known by "Kitty" to her family and close friends. She is in her late teens. Catherine is a confidante to her younger sister Lydia, which gets Catherine into trouble with their father. She is seen as sickly and has trouble riding in carriages without getting ill.
7. Lydia Bennet
Lydia Bennet is in her mid-teens and is the youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Bennet. She is also the daughter who causes the most trouble in the family. Lydia becomes enraptured by an officer named Wickham and runs away with him. Mr Darcy created an occupational situation for Wickham that would make sure he married Lydia and not disgrace her family.
In the course of her marriage to Wickham, Lydia would often ask Elizabeth or Jane for money.
8. Charles Bingley
Charles Bingley was a close friend to Fitzwilliam Darcy. He leased Netherfield Park until he could find a permanent residence. He is the oldest son and has two sisters. Charles Bingley meets Jane at a ball and both take a liking to each other. After months of being apart by circumstances unbeknownst to either of them, Charles proposed to Jane and she accepted.
9. Fitzwilliam Darcy
Fitzwilliam Darcy was a rich man who owned the Pemberley estate. He was named after his mother's maiden name. Darcy has one younger sister. He doesn't seem to be a nice person and even orchestrates Bingley's absence from Jane. Darcy also proposes to Elizabeth and gets upset when she refuses.
After Darcy learns that Wickham ran off with the teenage Lydia, he procures a military position for Wickham and forces Wickham to marry Lydia. After proposing to Elizabeth a second time, she accepts.
10. George Wickham
George Wickham was the godson of Darcy's father. Wickham was a vengeful man, even going as far as trying to marry Darcy's teenage sister to get the money he believed was owed to him. He seduced Lydia with the thought that they were going to marry even though he had no money. Darcy forced him to marry Lydia after finding him a military position. Even after what Darcy did for him, Wickham tried to make him look bad to Elizabeth.
When the Wickham's learned that Elizabeth and Darcy were getting married, Lydia wrote to Elizabeth requesting money to which Elizabeth refused.
