Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

During the first challenge, participants in the Tri-Wizard Tournament were to rescue a golden egg that was being guarded by a dragon. Harry took the egg after using a charm to call his broomstick, but was totally at a loss as to how the egg was supposed to be used for the second challenge - and time was running out. With only a couple of days left, Harry needed a miracle.

Cedric Diggory, the other Hogwarts' contestant in the tournament, provided the miracle. Harry had given him a clue regarding the first challenge, and he decided to return the favor. His hint was to take the golden egg to the Prefect's bathroom.

So, Harry went to the Prefect's bathroom, ran the bath water, and tried once again to hear the secret that the egg had to tell - thinking that he was "out of my mind". Just like always, however, there was terrible screeching. What else could he do?

Moaning Myrtle entered just in time. She suggested that Harry listen to the egg under water - just like the handsome boy had done. Lo and behold! There was a Merpeople song that told of the second event; apparently Merpeople spoke in such high-pitched voices that they could only be understood under water!

Myrtle also confirmed that Merpeople lived in the Black Lake, which was also called the Great Lake. The song said that the competition would be held there. This was the lake that first year students were seen in boats crossing with Hagrid ("Sorcerer's Stone"), and the same lake where Harry first produced his patronus while saving himself and Sirius Black from Dementors in "Prisoner of Azkaban".

Now Harry had only one more riddle to solve. He knew from the song that he only had one hour to complete the challenge. He apparently took that very literally, believing that all would be lost after the hour's time, and he would not be able to make the retrieval. Harry knew, however, that he could not breathe for an hour under water. Leave it to Neville Longbottom to come to the rescue! A budding herbologist, Neville suggested that Gillyweed would "most likely" enable Harry to stay under water for an hour's time. It even caused Harry to grow gills, webbed hands, and feet that looked like fins! In the book, Dobby offered Harry the Gillyweed, but he did not make an appearance in the movie).

Harry was the first to find the treasure that Professor Dumbledore spoke of in the announcement before the competition began. The treasure was a friend of each of the Tri-Wizard contestants. The problem was that Harry had three friends who were in a suspended state deep toward the bottom of the lake. He was there first; who should he rescue? Cedric rescued his date to the Yule Ball, Cho Chang, first. Then Victor Krum rescued his date, Hermione, leaving Ron and Gabrielle, Fleur Delacour's little sister. But nobody came for Gabrielle, and time was running out.

In spite of the fact that the Merpeople told Harry that he could only have one treasure, he took both Ron and Gabrielle to the surface of the water, but only after being attacked by Grindylows, water demons who kept pulling him down. He finally used his wand to break free as the Gillyweed was wearing off, rescuing Ron, Gabrielle, and finally himself.

Harry was disappointed to finish in last place in the challenge, but Professor Dumbledore had other ideas. He met with the judges and decided that Harry should be given extra points for his "moral fiber", in his quest to make sure all were protected. This decision moved him to second place in the second competition.

All of the incorrect terms were from other parts of the movie. The old boot, used as a Portkey at the beginning, introduced that concept of wizard travel; Voldemort used the Tri-Wizard trophy as a Portkey to transport Harry to the cemetery when he touched it in the maze during the final challenge. Rita Skeeter, the awful reporter, was not in the scene for the second challenge, and Dobby and the dragon have already been discussed.
