'The Blues Brothers' (1980) was a spin-off from a 1978 'Saturday Night Live' skit. In both cases, 'The Blues Brothers' was a soul revivalist band featuring Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi as the titular characters of Jake and Elwood Blues. Despite budget blow outs and dismal predictions, the movie was a box office hit and has since become a cult classic.

Scott Thorson, who shared ten years of his life with Liberace, wrote a memoir called "Behind the Candelabra: My Life with Liberace" in 1988. The book was adapted as a screenplay by Richard LaGravenese and filmed in 2013. Michael Douglas played Liberace; Matt Damon played Scott Thorson.

The movie premiered at Cannes in 2013 and was in competition for the Palme d'Or but did not win. The subject of Liberace's homosexuality is dealt with frankly but not vulgarly.

Jason", released in theaters in 2003, became the eleventh "Friday the 13th" film as well as the eighth "Nightmare on Elm Street" film preceding the Platinum Dunes reboots of the originals. This was the second movie to feature both characters; in the end of "Jason Goes to Hell" (1993), the ending alluded to a duel between Jason and Freddy. In this film, Jason was played by Kane Hodder while Robert Englund portrayed Freddy.

In the remake of "Friday the 13th" (released in 2009), Jason was played by Derek Mears. Jackie Earle Haley played Freddy in the 2010 reboot of "A Nightmare on Elm Street".
