Although he probably wishes he hadn't, Koichi used the telephone earlier to call Lisa. For a 5 year old boy, Sosuke is already very skilled at using the flashing light to communicate with passing ships, including Koichi's. Still fuming about Koichi not coming home when he was supposed to, Lisa uses the flashing light to call him some "salty" names as his ship passes by their house.
