Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Margaret, played by Phoebe Ann Miller, worked for her father. What did their company do in the wine industry?

Answer: Sold premium wines

Margaret is the daughter of Sir Mason Harwood and works in his company called Harwood Ltd. The company performs various duties such as cataloging wine cellars, selling wine to individuals, and running wine auctions for rare finds. Margaret works there alongside her half brother. She, however timid and shy she may appear, is extremely knowledgeable in the history and nuances of wine.

At the beginning of the movie, she threatens to quit unless she is taken more seriously. Shaken, her father agrees to send her to Scotland to catalog the wine cellar of a man who recently passed away.
2. Phillipe, played by Louis Jourdan, was busy torturing someone in the castle where Margaret was supposed to visit. What was he demanding of the poor bleeding man?

Answer: A formula

As Margaret is driving her rental car to the castle where she is to briefly work, the scene switches to the interior of the site. Phillipe and his two evil cohorts are staring at computer monitors with scientific graphics displayed. Phillipe is performing various torture techniques on a sweating and bleeding man.

Phillips continues to ask the man, to no avail, about "the rest of the formula". It appears Phillipe has a large portion (but not all) of a valuable formula. The tortured subject is about to get a needle injected into his eyeball when Margaret is seen pulling up to the front of the large residence.
3. Margaret finds an ancient bottle of wine in the castle in a hidden cellar. It was marked as the year 1811, which is known as "the year of the comet". What famous individual's initial was marked on the bottle?

Answer: Napoleon

Margaret, upon first glance at the castle's cellar, deems almost all bottles unfit and claims they could be sold at "a 7-11". Then she finds a hidden trap door which leads to a sub-basement beneath the cellar. At the edge of the room is a dusty box. Upon opening the large box, she discovers a huge bottle of Lafite 1811 Bordeaux.

She excitedly races back to the inn and calls her father. He shares in her excitement because 1811 was famously called "the year of the comet" and is widely considered one of the greatest and most legendary wine vintages in history. She goes on even further to say the bottle had an initial at the top that was the famous "N" marking it as a bottle owned by Napoleon.
4. In Scotland, Margaret awakens on her second day to discover Oliver (played by Tim Daly) standing over her. He has come to retrieve the bottle of wine since his employer, T.T. Kelleher, had agreed to buy it. For what amount?

Answer: $1 million

Margaret had run into Oliver at a previous tasting in England and had found him obnoxious. He had preferred beer to wine and even had the gall to pour two wine tastings together "as they were both red". She was relieved to see the last of him.

Unfortunately for her, Oliver's boss named T.T. Kelleher had agreed to purchase the rare find after an agreement with her father. He purchased it for a large sum of $1M. Oliver was sent to go get the wine from Margaret. She was furious he had just come into her room and was upset she was now stuck with him until he left with his valuable trophy.
5. Over the hectic course of a couple of days, Margaret and Oliver chased a variety of people who continued to steal their wine for their own reasons. Which of these was *NOT* a vehicle used in a chase scene?

Answer: Train

When Margaret and Oliver were first planning to load the wine on a helicopter for Oliver to return to his employer, they were ambushed by the innkeeper's son who stole the wine for the profit. They chased his car in the helicopter (which Oliver knew how to fly).

In later days, the wine was stolen by a Frenchman working for a Greek magnate and this time Oliver had to fly a plane to follow another plane. Upon landing in the French Riviera, another chase ensued as Oliver and Margaret, on a motorcycle, chased a car.
6. At one point, while Oliver and Margaret were pursuing a thief who had their wine, they wound up in rowboats on a lake. Margaret said the fog was as thick as what?

Answer: Pea soup

The innkeeper where Margaret had been staying overhead that the wine was valuable. She enticed her criminal son, Jamie, to go steal the bottle and take it to his grandmother's lake cottage. After attacking Margaret and Oliver, Jamie fled with the treasure.

Margaret and Oliver followed him to edge of the moor where he left his car. They then ran through the moor as the fog got heavier and heavier. They ended up right behind him at a dock where they had to quickly grab a rowboat and head out on the water. As they rowed, Margaret looked around and said the "fog was as thick as pea soup". She then laughed and laughed and said she had always wanted to say that phrase.
7. After a romantic night together, Margaret opens Oliver's wallet and finds a photo in it. Whom was he with?

Answer: A bride

In a romantic inn, after one of their many chases, Margaret and Oliver have separate rooms but keep flirting. They both stare longingly at the closed door between them. Phillipe and his henchmen steal the box but the wine is safe in Margaret's room.

After that episode, Margaret is saying good night to Oliver when they suddenly decide they both want to be together. The movie switches to the next morning when she awakens in his bed. He tells her to open his wallet to find a phone number. Instead, she sees a picture of him in a tux with a beautiful bride. She is blindsided and immediately very upset. (Fortunately for the romantic plot, this turns out to be a mistake).
8. Margaret is kidnapped toward the end of the movie by Phillipe and his gang. They take her to a French house high on a cliff. Oliver climbs the rocky cliff by hand, despite having seriously injured what part of his body?

Answer: Back

Throughout the film, Oliver complains about his aching back and says he cannot lift things or it strains his back even worse. At one point, during a chase through the countryside, he ends up in a fist fight. He wins the fight but hurts his back even worse in the process.

Not long after this, Margaret is kidnapped. Oliver, despite his pain, literally climbs to her window hand over hand. He is stuck toward the very top. She agrees to help him and they both confess their love. She hauls him up with bedsheets tied together.
9. As the movie begins to conclude, Phillipe is about to kill both Margaret and Oliver. He shows them a needle full of a material he has invented. What is it?

Answer: Human growth hormone

Phillipe has been working to create a human growth hormone that will reverse someone's age. As Margaret and Oliver stall for time, Phillipe injects himself with it. He immediately begins to feel woozy and soon collapses before he can shoot the couple.

Oliver says that he knew that if they stalled they would be OK. He had run across this hormone before and knew it did not work as intended. Phillipe was now knocked out and the couple was free.
10. At the very end of the movie, the wine is up for auction back in London. Shockingly, it sells to the highest bidder for a staggering five million dollars. Who buys it?

Answer: Oliver

In a fancy auction back in London, the wine is put up for auction since it had been erroneously promised to two different people. T.T. Kelleher and a wealthy Greek man went head to head in a bidding war. At the last minute, Oliver himself bid $5M and won the bottle.

It turns out, of course, that he is actually extremely wealthy with a great background and only works for T.T. Kelleher for enjoyment. He gives the bottle to Margaret as an early engagement present as the two plan to wed. They kiss as everyone has a glass of the (almost) priceless wine with money going to charity.
