Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Bridge Over Troubled Water" (1970)

Answer: Simon & Garfunkel

Paul Simon's and Art Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" was released in January 1970. In February 1970 it had risen to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained there for six weeks. Also an album of the same name, "Bridge Over Troubled Water" became the last for the duo.

The title is a metaphor for comforting someone living through a trying time in their life. It received a Grammy for Record of the Year.
2. "Joy to the World" (1971)

Answer: Three Dog Night

In the years 1969 through 1975, no other group achieved more top ten hits than Three Dog Night. Songs like "Joy to the World", "An Old Fashioned Love Song", and "Never Been to Spain" topped the charts during those years. "Joy to the World" was the number one song for 1971.
The band's name has ties to the Australian Outback. It seems that the Aboriginals would measure the cold by how many dogs they had to sleep with to stay warm. A three-dog night was very cold.
3. "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" (1972)

Answer: Roberta Flack

Roberta Flack graduated from Howard University at the age of 19 in 1956.

He had several Top Ten hits ("An Everlasting Love" and "I Just Want To Be Your Everything").

He was only twenty years old. Sadly, his career took a turn for the worst when he became addicted to cocaine, which led to an early death ten years later.
10. "My Sharona" (1979)
