Although the object the men are trying to move is never mentioned in the song I always assumed it was a piano. It is a piano in the black and white animated video made at the time; you can see it on YouTube.

Bernard Cribbins has appeared on the stage, in movies, on TV and radio. He has starred in three "Carry On" movies, "Carry On Jack" 1963, "Carry On Spying" 1964 and "Carry On Columbus" 1992.
