The song reached Number Ten in the British singles chart for the week ending 4 August 1962. "The Hole In The Ground", Cribbens' previous single, had peaked at number nine in April of the same year.
2. Prior to recording the song, what was Bernard Cribbins known for?

Answer: West End theatre actor

Cribbins made his first West End theatre appearance in 1956 as Dromios in "A Comedy of Errors". He followed this by co-starring in the first West End productions of "Not Now Darling". He went on to star in the revue, "And Another Thing".
