Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

In Genesis 6 (King James Version), we read about the state of world about a thousand years after Adam's creation. Noah was born 1056 years after Adam and according to Genesis 5:32 (KJV), Noah was 500 years old when he bore his three sons. The idyllic beautiful Garden of Eden had now been replaced with a corrupt world full of violence, wickedness, and a distancing from God. Despite the evilness in the world, Noah stood out as a god-fearing man who avoided the unrighteous of his peers. While no specific details of Noah's righteous is listed in the scriptures, Genesis tells us he found "grace in the eyes of the Lord".

In addition to the wickedness of the general population during Noah's life, the Nephilim were prevalent in the world. They people were described as "giants" who were the offspring of human women and "sons of God", which some Bible historians believe to be angels on Earth. They were of extraordinary size and strength and not part of God's original plan for populating the planet. God needed to clean the planet of this corruption and vowed to destroy all living creatures on the planet he created. Yet, Noah and his family were to be spared. Noah and his wife bore three sons named Ham, Shem, and Japeth. Together with each of the three sons' wives, the eight people would be protected from the destruction ahead.

As the Genesis saga continued, God instructed Noah and his family to build an ark and to bring two of every animal and their food and they would be protected during this destruction. (The details in Genesis 7 are slightly different.) It is estimated that Noah had about one hundred years to build the ark and collect the animals prior to the Great Flood that cleansed Earth.
