Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:
Six of the Bible books on the list come in the Old Testament of the King James Bible. The Book of Judges tells the history of the judges, the charismatic leaders of the Israelites after leaving exile in Egypt. These judges include Gideon, Samson, and Deborah. Ezra tells the story of the Jews returning to Jerusalem after years of exile among the Babylonians. Ezra was a scribe, and his words helped instruct the Jews on how to be obedient to God and establish the new community. Lamentations was written following the destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BCE. As the title suggests, the collection of poems is somber and mournful after the devastation.
Habukkuk, Amos, and Haggai are linked together as "minor prophets". While some may think that means they have less importance, it's actually due to the brevity of the length of their books. In order of appearance, you have Amos, Habukkuk, then Haggai in the Bible. Amos provided a glimmer of hope with a prophesy about a future restoration of the temple. Habukkuk was the eighth total of the "minor prophets" and spoke of trusting in God with your whole heart and finding "confidence in the Lord". Haggai is only two chapters long and appears third from last in the Old Testament. It was written prior to the rebuilding of the Jewish temple.
In the New Testament we find the Bible books of Acts, Jude, Philemon, and Galatians. Acts is the Bible book right after the four Gospels. It is notable for the life history of Saul, a man who persecuted the Jews but became a prominent Christian and changed his name to Paul. Philemon was written by Paul and was an epistle to his rich friend named Philemon. In the book, we hear his message of forgiveness and equality as Paul wanted Philemon to treat his slave with love and respect as God had done for him.
Paul wrote many letters to the different congregations include the Ephesians, Philippians, and the Galatians. In particular, the letter to the Galatians was a reminder that although the old Law given through Moses, remained important, it was now essential to emphasize that salvation came through following Christ's words. Jude was written as a reminder letter to the early Christians to stay true to the teaching of Christ and not to be misled or pulled away by those false prophets in their midst.
The wrong answers are all names of people, places, or events in the Bible but none of those are actual titles of Bible Books found in the Old or New Testament of the King James Version.
