Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Sarah

Answer: Positive

Sarah was the wife of Abraham. In Genesis 17, we read how God changed her name from Sarai to Sarah. She was blessed by God for her faithfulness and was miraculously able to bear a son many years after she was fertile. Her son, Isaac, became part of the lineage of Jesus.
2. Queen Jezebel

Answer: Negative

Queen Jezebel convinced her husband King Ahab to turn from God and worship a Tyrian god named Baal. She tried to kill those who opposed her including Elijah in 1 Kings 18:19-19:3 (KJV). Jezebel's life ended badly: after falling out of a window, dogs ate her (2 Kings 9 in KJV).
3. Herodias

Answer: Negative

Herodias played a major role in the beheading of John the Baptist. In Mark 6:19 in KJV, we read that Herodias was mad at John The Baptist for criticizing her second marriage, to her brother-in-law Herod Antipas. Herodias arranged for her daughter to dance at his birthday party.

Her dancing pleased her stepfather Herod so much that he granted her any wish she wanted. As instructed by her mother, she requested the beheading of John The Baptist and to have his head put on a platter for her mother Herodias.
4. Salome

Answer: Negative

Salome is not actually named in the Bible, but this name is associated with the daughter of Herodias who danced for her stepfather in Mark 6 (KJV). Her stepfather, Herod, got drunk at the celebration and was so pleased by her dancing, he agreed to grant his stepdaughter any wish in the world. Salome wished for John The Baptist's head on a platter.

Herod was upset by this request but followed through on the execution of John The Baptist.
5. Phoebe

Answer: Positive

Phoebe has been described as a "deacon" or leader of the church in Cenchreae. Paul respected her strength and faith and recommended her to the church in Rome in Romans Chapter 16 (KJV). Phoebe appeared to be a wealthier woman who contributed to the church in Rome.
6. Lydia

Answer: Positive

Lydia was from Philippi and is credited by many as the first convert to Christianity in Europe. Acts 16:14 (KJV) says, "She was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul's message." She opened her home to Paul and his companions on their travels. Lydia has been described a businesswoman who sold purple cloth and supported the early church.
7. Potiphar's wife

Answer: Negative

Potiphar's wife is not specifically named in the Bible, but her story is not a positive one for her. In Genesis Chapter 39, we read that Joseph spurned her sexual advances. Potiphar's wife then falsely accused him of rape and he was sent to prison. Her husband, Potiphar, was the captain of the Pharoah's guard in Egypt.
8. Delilah

Answer: Negative

In Judges 16 we read the story of Samson and Delilah. The Jewish judge, Samson, loved Delilah and the Philistines used that against the Biblical strong man. The Philistines bribed Delilah with great riches to find the source of Samson's strength. Delilah revealed that his long hair was tied to a Nazarite vow to never cut it.

She cut off his hair in his sleep and the Philistines gouged out his eyes while he was in a weakened state.
9. Noah's wife

Answer: Positive

Noah's wife is not specifically named in the Bible. But in Genesis 6:18, God says to Noah, "But I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall come into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives with you". Noah's wife held faithful to her vows to her husband and her belief in God's promise to purify the land.

She was listed as one of the eight survivors of the Great Flood and lived a long life together with Noah in Genesis.
10. Ruth

Answer: Positive

Ruth is an ancestor in the lineage of Jesus and the great-grandmother of King David. She was a humble and faithful servant of God who helped her mother-in-law Naomi after Ruth's Israelite husband, Mahlon passed. One of the few Bible books named after a woman is the Book of Ruth which showcases her display of faith and kindness to her family.
