1. Who directed this episode of "The West Wing"?

Answer: Alex Graves

Graves was credited, per the opening credits, with directing this episode of "The West Wing." He directed a total of thirty four episodes for the series and he also produced some episodes as well. He has also directed episodes for the TV shows, "The Practice", "Gideon's Crossing", and "Ally McBeal."
2. This episode took place over twelve weeks. Which character was not in The White House for all twelve weeks?

Answer: Josh Lyman

This episode focused on the twelve weeks before the midterm elections that dealt with members of Congress and there were scenes of campaigning for these elections. We learned that, of all the characters in the west wing of The White House, Josh was the only one who was not there for the entire twelve weeks.

However, Josh was seen often communicating with the Bartlet staff via telephone so he was not out of the loop on what was going on there.
3. Who was seen persuading a friend to run for a congressional office?

Answer: Sam Seaborn

While the midterm election campaigns were underway, we saw Sam speaking to an old friend of his, from law school, and Sam urged his friend to run for a congressional seat. This seat so happened to be the one in which Sam lived in and he wanted his friend to represent the district since he felt he would do a good job.

However, the friend was accused of racism and he dropped out of running.
4. Who killed the campaign for the staffer's friend that was running for office?

Answer: Leo McGarry

There were claims of racism against Sam's friend since it was revealed that his friend had picked all white juries when he prosecuted black suspects while he was District Attorney. Fearing that people would find out Sam encouraged a racist to run for office, Leo stepped in and killed his campaign by cutting off any funding that Sam's friend received. Leo even cancelled a visit President Bartlet planned to make for the friend's behalf.
5. Who wanted the Ku Klux Klan to register with the FBI?

Answer: Toby Ziegler

Toby started to get an obsession with leaning on terrorist groups so he came up with an idea to have the Ku Klux Klan registering with the FBI. Toby's reasoning was that he was upset that racists had tried to assassinate Charlie. President Bartlet took Toby aside and assured him he understood his anger since the shooting was not just an attempt to kill Charlie but to start a lynch mob.
6. President Bartlet's enemy won election to a congressional seat.

Answer: False

Toby was not the only one who had an obsession in this episode. President Bartlet started to become distracted when he became obsessed after an old political enemy of his won a seat on a school board in his hometown. President Bartlet wanted to focus more on this guy's win than on the Democrats attempting to win the elections to gain control of the U.S. House of Representatives. President Bartlet revealed this enemy was a bigot and, in light of how Charlie was almost killed by racists, this was why he was obsessed with the guy's win.

9. The Democrats won back control of Congress.

Answer: False
