"M*A*S*H" Episode: "Chief Surgeon Who?" Quiz

Dismayed that Henry didn't appoint Frank as chief surgeon, Margaret calls on General Barker to straighten out what seems to her a great injustice. She and Frank are eagerly waiting for him and are outside in anticipation of his arrival. This is Barker's (Sorrell Booke) second and last appearance.

As a common pastime, Hawkeye and some buddies are playing poker in the Swamp while Hawkeye waits for a wounded soldier's condition to stabilize. Capt. Kaplan is among those at the table.

Jack Riley passed away in 2016 at age 80. He was perhaps best known for playing Elliot Carlin, the poker-faced client of psychiatrist Bob Hartley on "The Bob Newhart Show".

Frank: "Haven't you two anything better to do when you're off duty than to lie around and swill gin?"

Hawkeye: "Swill gin? Sir, I have sipped, lapped and taken gin intravenously, but I have never swilled!"

This is Klinger's debut on the series. It was meant to be just a single appearance, but the character proved so popular that he was eventually made a regular cast member. The character was played by Jamie Farr, who previously made mainly guest appearances in a wide variety of TV shows and movies.

When Barker first sees Klinger, their exchange went like this:

General Barker: "Still trying to get out on a psycho, eh, Klinger? I can tell you, it'll take a lot more than this."

Klinger: "Then I'll just have to keep trying, Mary.", as he skips away.

Answer: Larry Gelbart

Gelbart penned 38 episodes of "M*A*S*H" during its first four seasons. He also worked on numerous TV shows and and stage productions. He passed away in 2009 at age 81.

Answer: Hawkeye was playing poker when there was a patient in the OR.

Barker seemed miffed at all those situations, but when he saw Hawkeye playing poker when there was a wounded soldier in the OR, that really set him off. However, he didn't fully understand the situation. Hawkeye was just passing the time waiting for the soldier's condition to stabilize before operating. Later, Barker joins in the surgery and is impressed with Hawkeye's surgical skills and is satisfied that Henry made the right choice.

The General approves. He responds, "Nice touch."

Answer: strip dominoes

And Ginger is clearly winning. The general asks: "Nurse, is everybody around here crazy?" and she nervously answers, "Everybody who's sane is, sir."

Answer: Bet it doesn't.

The general is looking for Henry and has to pass Margaret's tent. Just at that moment, Frank is backing out the door and, of course, feels obligated to explain.

Answer: nothing

Of course, Klinger is only shown from the waist upwards.

Hawkeye: "Aw, come on, Klinger, put on a dress or something."
