Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What time period does the report cover?

Answer: 17 - 22 October 1951

The report apparently covered a Wednesday to the following Monday in October 1951. Why it was not a full week or started on a Sunday or Monday wasn't explained. The Korean Conflict had been going on for over a year at that time.
2. Radar is distracted for a moment and mistakenly resumes typing on what other item of office equipment?

Answer: adding machine

The adding machine starts vigorous clattering, startling Radar, who then realizes his mistake and quickly corrects his error.
3. Who or what does Radar write about first?

Answer: a wounded North Korean soldier

The Korean doesn't understand that the doctors are trying to help him. He jumps up from the operating table, grabs a scalpel, and starts slashing at things, creating havoc, wounding a nurse, and breaking an IV bottle before he is restrained.
4. What is Klinger wearing when he enters the OR to subdue the Korean?

Answer: a red evening gown

The Korean is still lashing out with the scalpel and cuts one of the straps on Klinger's gown. Klinger isn't injured, though, and quickly gets things under control so the soldier can be anesthetized and operated on.
5. What was the name of the nurse who was injured in the OR melee?

Answer: Erica Johnson

Hawkeye is only too happy to oversee the attractive nurse's recovery. She was portrayed by Joan Van Ark, who is perhaps best known for playing Valene Ewing on "Knott's Landing".
6. To which movie star is Klinger compared?

Answer: Lana Turner

Frank and Margaret want Klinger discharged and are discussing it with Henry when Klinger enters the office wearing a red gown. Henry says, "All right, let's have it. What's wrong with Klinger?" Franks fumes, "A man stands in your office in an evening gown, and you ask 'What's wrong'"? Henry replies, "Well, I'll admit he's no Lana Turner."
7. Who makes a debut appearance in this episode?

Answer: Dr. Freedman

Dr. Freedman is an Army psychologist and is played by Alan Arbus. In this episode, his first name is Milton, but in his subsequent 11 episode appearances, he is named Sidney. Also noted: this is the only time in the series that Klinger is given a professional psychiatric evaluation. Klinger's enthusiasm wanes when he learns that a Section 8 will follow him into his civilian life.
8. Why did Trapper have to operate on his patient again?

Answer: he developed an abcess

Trapper was furious and blamed the North Korean soldier because the melee in the OR broke the IV bottle and contaminated it. It is implied that Trapper planned to do some harm to the Korean in retribution, but Hawkeye intervened.
9. What was Hawkeye doing when the injured nurse pays a visit to the Swamp?

Answer: shaving

She is up and around and her first visit was to the Swamp to see Hawkeye to express her very personal thanks for his attentions during her recovery.
10. What song was playing when the formerly injured nurse is in the Swamp?

Answer: As Time Goes By

A subliminal note to add to the romantic atmosphere of the scene. "As Time Goes By" was written in 1931 by Herman Hupfeld. Most associate it with the 1942 movie "Casablanca". It was also the title of the penultimate "M*A*S*H" episode.
